Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 5 - Trying to recover from the pandemic

My dad has also ready seemed to have aged over the past two years. He is 78, and has started to teeter a little when he gets out of a chair and just seems a little smaller than before. He had a very physical job and was always super fit and I think he finds it difficult to listen to his body and stop. His dad lived to 100, so I am hopeful he will be similar so we will have him around a long time yet.
My mum on the other hand has seemed old for the past decade and she is only 74.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉6 -
Just popping by to say I too don’t understand cars enough. I wish I did. When I lost the support of my dad I joined the AA. It’s extra expense, but I know if I break down at home or out and about I do have someone to call who knows what’s what.My dad made it to 80, but my mum is aging now ☹️ It’s a worry. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

Cars can be so difficult, my little green machine has failed its MOT, luckily sounds like it doesnt need too much to pass, but I am putting trust in a garage than knows my dad as I just don't know who to trust! It is frustrating isn't it! Hope you can sort it and sell it quickly! I hope NT1 is still going strong, sending lots of vibes6

Hello!!!!
You know why I haven't been here right? You know that there's never a dull or quiet moment in the life of CCL? Well it has been an eventful fortnight and I find myself sitting here with a banging headache just hoping for a quiet day and that my mam is ok when I get over there to see her in a while.
So... NT1 still here and still doing her thing. She's enjoying the sun and spending a bit of time in the garden with the others. It really does make a lot of difference having light nights and mornings and I feel a bit better within myself. Went out for my first proper long walk of the year yesterday with DD - just over an hour, and I felt so much better for it.
Foxgloves, you will be proud that I am still eating from boxes of portioned and pre-prepared food. It also makes a massive difference but just feels like something else that I have to do and make time for.
So, the main news that has kept me offline. DS has broken his foot. I got a call at work a couple of weeks ago - he had tried to jump onto a wall and fallen. A really kind woman had found him in the street unable to walk, and the staff from W£thersp00ns had given him a drink and she was going to drive him home. I came straight home from work and knew that I needed to take him to hospital. We were there 5 hours - he came home with a moonboot and crutches and very upset about the whole thing. Because he has the boot (not the crutches any more) he can't walk to and from school. It's only about 1km away but obviously that's a bit of a distance on a broken foot. So for the past fortnight I've been dropping him off at school at 8.15 then trying to get the 15 mile drive to work done in time for me to start teaching at 8.45. Then he's had to go to homework club until 3.45 every night and I've been leaving work with the kids at 3pm to pick him up. It's a nightmare and very stressful indeed. I've found myself doing a lot of work from home and falling behind because I can't be at school before and after the kids to get properly prepared. Good news is that he's walking about ok so I'm hoping that next week normal service will resume. I need it to that's for sure.
On top of that we had the whole car scenario... Spoke to my own mechanic who definitively proved that he had not ripped me off and that something else had broken. He fixed it for free for me and I took it back to the garage that I wanted to buy the car from and they offered me £300 - which felt like an insult. I tried to sell it on fakebook and failed when it spat 2 dashboard lights out when someone came to look at it (that then went off when he left). I ended up selling it to a garage for £1000 cash - which was lovely of them, and I felt less guilty than selling it privately. To cut a long and boring story short, yesterday afternoon we picked up a C1, which is a lot newer (but still needs some work doing on it), a lot cheaper and hopefully a lot more reliable. We bought it from a used car garage so hopefully it should be better than a private sale. It's got MOT and has just had shock absorbers and a new clutch, has a timing chain so won't need a timing belt doing. And should be cheaper for replacement parts and less faffy than the last one as well. Good stuff (I hope).
I really do just need a bit of quiet time sitting doing nothing. I've woken up with a headache this morning and I'm not sure why... I feel worn out and old.Not giving up
