Morning all
Thank you so much for all of your kind words. You really have no idea how much they mean to me - especially when I feel so run down and am not looking after myself well.
Just a quick catch up from me this morning. I hear you about needing a break but unfortunately I have online meetings all day today and tomorrow. But I can do that from the safety of my own home. I haven't done my hair or put a bra on and I'm just relaxing myself under a blanket with a rerun of the curling (which I saw during the night anyway) before I start.
I am feeling a lot better kidney wise - you're right foxgloves - I get ill when I get run down. DS was in hospital with a kidney infection a few years ago and it was discovered that he has a bit of an anomaly which is no problem as long as he looks after himself and stays hydrated. I am starting to wonder if I might have the same thing - suppose I'll find out when my own referral comes through. And whilst I can go to the loo without trouble and my back only hurts a teeny bit I am still exhausted - think I'm now starting with a cold on top of everything else.
When work finished on Friday I went out with a few people from the department for a carvery, which was really lovely. I really enjoyed it. Then picked the kids up and we did a massive grocery shop in Aldee to make up for the past 3 weeks (£62 -which is a lot for that place). I was in bed and asleep not long after 10pm and didn't wake up until almost 9 yesterday morning. Went out with bestie who was picking up the most expensive handmade blind from funelm and we had a coffee and a catch up at hers afterwards. Got home and did jacket spuds for lunch followed by a 2 hour nap on the sofa. Must have needed it.
So ds. Not sure what is going on there but he has started telling me every single day that he is sick and can't go into school. I've tried his head of year without much luck because she always just tells me that he's fine when he's there. Offered to move him to my school, but he says he doesn't want to leave his friends. Says he finds the lessons a bit boring and there are a lot of supply teachers. I've reminded him that school is non negotiable and spent a couple of my exam working from home days physically taking him into school and picking him up to make sure that he was there. Anyway - he then really got ill - just a head cold, but he needed 2 days off school. Then after that he was ok with going back. So weird. I try my best with him but he's a 13 year old boy with a lot of issues from his father to deal with on top of puberty and trying to fit in at school. Thankfully I've managed to arrange for him to see a counsellor through school and he started that last week so I really hope that helps him a bit.
DD is ready for her driving test by about April apparently. The waiting list is such that the earliest date she's managed to get is in July. She's going to be checking for cancellations nearer to the time but I'm so pleased and proud with how she's gotten on, saved her money and then used it wisely. She's also been a bit unwell recently - think we're all run down with some winter blues.
Money situation is ok - but has been neglected over the past month. I'm back to it. Cost £450 to get dd's car service and through its MOT, followed by £80 for a new tyre on mine after a puncture last week. That really reduced the amount of money I had to throw at the debt but I'm really hoping that all this extra exam work starts paying off soon. That's the only thing that keeps me going at the moment.
Best get on. Sorry I still haven't caught up on all of your diaries yet...

My girl has her test next month, but has been ready since Dec. She was super lucky to get on the site the day they released the next batch. She was going to look for a cancellation, by decided not to bother in the end. I have everything crossed she will pass, even though she won't drive again for years! She is off to uni so probably won't need a car until after. I passed in 1994, and didn't have my own car until 2000! But learning the skill at 17/18 meant it was there waiting. Unlike hubby who never passed and still can't drive and never will. Which can be frustrating.
Glad you are getting the chance to rest up, I had a kidney infection years ago, although not from stress, but I still remember how absolutely horrendous it was.
Hope ds continues to be ok at school. It's a funny age for them, all the feelings, but still essentially a child.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉8 -
Try to get plenty of rest and some "me" time. I think a lot of people struggl at this time of year with the dark mornings and evenings and the awful weather. Do you take vitamins at all they might help a little especially vitamin D to make up for not being out in the sunlight. (What sunlight?)

Eeps - am I half way through my half term already? And bearing in mind that I've got 5 days of it with exam work I really need to make the most of the two days off I have tomorrow and Friday. I'm quite frustrated with the fact that I've had to do so much during half term because I really did need a bit more of a rest than I've had. Never mind. Holidays always seem to end up really busy now - I was busy all over Christmas. Really hope that Easter is a bit quieter - I'm going to check my holiday dates while I'm online so I can count down the weeks before I've even gone back to school.
Not lots to report - loads of work unfortunately but all from the comfort of my own home.
On top of that I've managed to book my hospital appointment, get my old nt1 in with the vet next week (dreading that) and get ds bike fixed. Also did a trip to Primarni with dd as neither of us have been post pandemic and I was desperate for socks and cotton wool pads, lol. She managed to find more than that in the shop but I really am too fat and old for that shop these days.
So even yesterday wasn't much of a day off. Worked most of today - popped over to see my mam for lunch as I won't make it over this weekend and didn't last weekend either. Lovely jacket spuds with gammon and coleslaw. Thankfully I feel loads better, but I know I still need to slow down a bit more.
