Thanks all, I am scuttling back in after 2 days of recovery from my trip. I definitely chose not to drink cheap wine
I was often found to be loitering round the champagne bar. I also would taste a small amount of the wines before accepting large glasses.
I also ate super healthy (tx the local lidl) and kept the sweets/crisps to a minimum (only happened when I was exhausted and had early meetings so I didnt get my full brunch cooked for myself.
It was full on especially as I had the extra work of admin for my summer big side hustle to do - couple hours each day, on top of meetings, parties, networking . plus I got some late night dancing in ... I have a big project also I am planning which could be career/life changing I am setting up - lots of work to do this month..
The good news is due to all the walking (and I cant eat canapes as I am GF) I somehow lost 1.1kg more despite the alcohol. I had the shock of trying on some clothes before I went and many were tight around the top - the extra weight gain in the last year esp on the male TST when I put on 3.5kg in 3 weeks..... However by the end of the trip I was looking, feeling and fitting into things much better. The one dress I took as a punt as there was no way I could zip up at the start I got into at the end..
I am also settling into the Female TST well. I have more energy and no weird allergic reactions.
Now back at home getting lots of sleep and my June to do list sorted, I have also been very clean eating - roast chickens, salads, huge amount of greens and lost another 1kg - and feel great. I can see that pesky visceral fat on my belly (and gym states it is at 6 - it was 5 last year) and I am determined that by the end of June I am getting rid of most of this excess
The Newcastle/Prof Taylor book has really sunk in my brain. I can see pics from pre covid at the same work event and I am clearly much slimmer - I have allowed the weight to creep on (a stone or so) incrementally and I am refusing to have to buy new clothes, feel and look not good and risk my long term health re Type 2.
I am however this week seeing KYLIE, and my friends have already organised a pre party inc Kylie sparkling - I feel some ridiculous outfit coming out... a friend of my friends is ill so I am getting the ticket at a vastly reduced price - £50 which feels pretty MSE
My trip away I managed to only eat out once, the rest was all home cooking. I bought zero alcoholI also got a couple days in the sun on the beach..
MB - had 2 big wins on horses £540 yesterday and a £900 Saturday win, which is helping with my summer side hustle costs.
I am on daily calls with the people who owe me the cash.. still on that
COMPING
I won some cash from a comp .. waiting to see if its £20 or the singular £5k prize -
It has motivated me to start doing some comps again.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
