Just to update…
The ombudsman found failings on the part of sainsburys after i challenged the ombudsmans initial response. The ombudsman would not assist in recovering the funds. However the police have assisted with this and they did a data protection request to barclays who confirmed details of the recipient. The recipient confirmed to the police that they contacted barclays to say this money had hit their account and barclays have failed to assist and left the money there. The recipient has confirmed the money will be returned to me via the police. I am currently waiting. If i get it back i have to say how marvellous it has gone to an honest person! The ombudsman found no failings on the part of barclays. I will be pursuing again based on the above and the fact barclays failed to act.
