Henry Hoovers are fantastic. I’ve had lots of hoovers over the years and Henry is the best by a mile. Very cumbersome but brilliant.I hope you manage to have a decent Christmas xxI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

mothernerd said:I don't really want to get out of bed (been down once to collect my handbag and food - phone/ time is in the bag along with this week's pills) but mum is ill. Apparently she tried to get in touch with me yesterday, for me to get the doctor out to her. It's only diarrhoea (I know it makes you feel like carp) so I went through the nhs info and will go and try once again to get her to do what she should be doing. Resting, sleeping, eating if she can, drinking lots. Wiping handles, taps and toilet seat daily (Not wiping the kitchen with a cloth and then draping it over the taps - starting to turn into an 'how many relatives will not be speaking to me by Christmas' contest).
I can barely stand up so the easiest thing is to take the walker to little arseda, buy bread and scones, antiseptic gel, wipes and spray, get a taxi straight to hers and do what I can (spray is so I can just zap everything if I can't go round wiping stuff). Have a list of what I most want to bring back and am hoping to clear my freezer (was DS2's) and leave it surrounded by bedding that wants washing to soak up any defrost water. Won't have my planned shower and hair wash there -it will all work out in the end.
Then come home, crawl into bed and sleep until spring (hibernating through winter is the only sensible thing). Will have to try and have phone calls/ message exchanges with DS2 and others who might be planning to call at mum's. Beloved is being picked up by her parents at some point today, DS3 has been told his drawers will be arriving, if possible I will phone him when delivery time has been narrowed down (Beloved's phone so if she's already left?).
No I'm doing what I can, followed by what I need, everything else is in a 'somebody else's problem' field.
Really hope you have had a restful day and your various sons have come to their senses. It is so hard to keep going when people are difficult. And lets not get started on MothersDo hope she feels better.

She will be fine. DS2 and his gf turned up on the doorstep (they wouldn't come in as they want to visit her parents soon and if either of them gets ill this week, they won't be able to). They had been to mum's (only DS2 went inside and he wiped all the door handles etc for her). My present is at mum's, my presents for everyone else are at mum's, worse things happen at sea.
Everyone is safe and fairly well. I have done what was needed and I'm resting and sleeping, eating whatever I want, whenever I want, I have a pile of books, DS3 moved the couches where I wanted them and I will do a little hobble round sorting and tidying when I feel up to it. DS1's Christmas has further reduced (my ex is hospitalised again). The pickles, pigs in blankets, sorbet, dates and chestnuts (both been around a while because they slip behind other things on the pantry shelves and hide) are all at mum's but I picked up a lot of ys veg yesterday and bought some frozen desserts the day before.
Still gathering stuff for the cs and various bins but it will stay here until I am feeling strong. DS3 just wants to get on with his work (which I have been holding up by asking him to do things). I've even managed to cut my hair and wash it although I went dizzy when I stood up again and had to turn round holding onto things so I was pointing in the right direction.

I did have to go back for the prescription. Yesterday was truly exhausting. I had to carry on sorting out the conservatory, cook dinner, clear up, give gifts to neighbours, put up the tree and wrap presents. I didn't get to the presents. I discovered, as of course you would on Christmas eve that the other roof window in the conservatory has developed a leak. It has been leaking on to the pile that was piled up from the other leak.........So all the things I "saved" from leak one were ruined by leak two. I threw a lot away, nothing too important in the end! The biggest problem is both the sofa and the sideboard have significant water damage.
The water found its way down to both of them. That took a bit of sorting. The sofa seats have mould I think? but have put them against the radiator to dry. I have soaked the sideboard in furniture polish.
Today I need to hoover, wrap presents and tidy.
I hope everyone has a good day. Merry Christmas XXXXNevertheless she persisted.3 -

To be honest it will surprise no one that I had a rubbish day. Nothing brings home how little my family know, understand or possibly care about me than Christmas. There were some comments that were too hurtful to write down. Just so dismissive. Or how much they take me for granted. Just been asked to bring something over tomorrow. You couldn't make it up.
I can't make many decisions or grand plans due to Mum's health but I do not want to be in this situation ever, in this context - Of having worked my butt off to clean or tidy the house, gather presents from the four corners of the universe, visit the chemist so often they asked if I wanted to move in and generally be a total skivvy only be the butt of family jokes and !!!!!! comments. I will have to think about making a different plan next year. Like running away under an assumed identity.
I am tired and have a headache. I did get nice presents. Not opened them all yet. My room is a tip. Headache getting worse. I am going to eat some chocolate.

Our whole house is a tip. At least that part is expected at Christmas and no one can judge me for it.
I’m sorry it’s not gone well and hope you can take some much deserved “me” time tomorrow. Sod going anywhere - you have a migraine and are therefore unfortunately indisposed (unless you want to go that is).
I ate 2 chocolates, 2 slices of Christmas cake, a bowl of coco pops and half a packet of breadsticks to get over Christmas. And that was with everything generally going pretty well!3 -
Are you taking mum over tomorrow? If so how's this for a suggestion. Take her over, go out to the car for something you forgot, then just drive away. Don't tell me you wouldn't love to do that. I know you would. You don't know how often I've sat there crying into the steering wheel. I know you won't do it because you are a much nicer person than me, but you will enjoy thinking about doing it. Just remember to take something that YOU like & preferably they hate tomorrow. And remember "revenge is a dish best served cold".
