Your day was def more productive than mine. And some days, crossing off just one thing is a huge achievement. Enjoy your time with your friends x2

morning all,
Am meeting my friends at 12. Feeling really sad today, a group of very good friends had a conversation(Group chat) centred around their children and grandchildren and exams and relationships. I have none of those things. Most of the time the job and my family take up my time and I don't think about the lack of my own family. It just never happened, I never met anyone, I don't take risks and this is the result. I made my peace with that a few years ago now, as when my BIL got sick I realised the chances of me dating etc were tiny but as my "thing" is to do what is right I supported my family. And I have always been on my own, it isn't an unusual state for me and I have never gone all out to change that, it just isn't something I have pursued, and certainly when the rare relationships have ended it has taken me years to recover. But sometimes - I guess as I get older a slight fear creeps in, a disappointment, a lack. I am also aware that my plans are generally short term, I do have a pension but not much else planned. These days the majority of my friends have children and are in relationships, I am excluded (not deliberately obviously!) from a lot of conversations and events. There no anniversaries or birthdays of children to celebrate, no happy experiences of holidays or days out. I can tell you how best to navigate a hospital, who to phone, what to say, I can do all the depressing stuff about death! Can tell you loads about medications and collecting prescriptions for other people. Also, I don't totally suck at my job. Quite good with animals. But not much else. I am actually dreading Friday as although they are my best friends the kids will be there and the conversation will rightly centre on them.
I have a few precious single/childless friends who I value greatly for there is an understanding, a knowledge that however you have come to this situation society isn't totally sure what to do with you and how to treat you.
Anyhow that was a deep start to the day! And on that note I am off to clean out the animals. I am hoping once I return from afternoon tea(not a clue what to wear!) I can do some work in the garden.....and of course the conservatory.
Take care of yourselves XX
Nevertheless she persisted.4
