Today I’ve been on a panel selecting job applications to go through to interview for jobs in the Civil Service department I work in. I can’t believe the amount that were from teachers and it was for a fairly low grade role too.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

My niece has just qualified as a sociology teacher at secondary level
she found the training year tough
I’m thinking she has little idea what she is letting herself in for
I encouraged both of my younger two to take up teaching as I thought they would excel at it , neither were keen
reading lots of posts on here I’m glad I didn’t press them too hard2 -

Teaching is great, the actual pure class room thing is brilliant. Schools are horrible places to work. The pressure, the paperwork, the constant scrutiny. When a school is due ofsted Monday and Tuesday are the worst, given things to do, prove this prove that by yesterday, spot checks, meetings, more checks, more documents. You struggle through Wednesday aware of the amount you have to do
and are exhausted by Thursday and then Friday when there hasn't been a phone call you briefly relax, collapse into the weekend to prepare to do it all again the next week.
And I know that in the real world there is pressure in work and I don't expect work to be stress free at all. I just think it is unreasonable. But maybe the world is unreasonable!
