Thanks all.
Am still debating.
The vets cost 70 quid today. I have rearranged my money.
I took 2000 out of my savings
1000 = Pets (vets, supplies)
1000= Fun (in case any of my friends want to do stuff) also shopping sprees. as in for clothes.
I am paying back 50 quid a month to them (100 in total)
I am paying 200 to the ISA, 250 to the other account. It is 50 less than before.
31 pound for Christmas
55 to the savings bonds.
In theory this should leave me with plenty of money (!) to pay for something like private health care. However paying back the 50 quid isn't going to cover my savings or build them back up.
It is.........I mean it isn't hard, I am very privileged to have these savings. I really need better control over my spending. I must sort out spending to fix my feelings. I could make much better progress really.
Nevertheless she persisted.2 -
Reading what you've said I thought three things
You need to move out
You need to change your GP practice
You need to improve your sleep
It is no wonder you're tired, teaching full time and a carer as well. It would be odd if you weren't tired.2 -
I guess it would but lots of people have children and do the job?
I am on my second GP practice. I left the first one cos they yelled my personal details across a crowded waiting room. And you could only make appointments on the day for that day.
The next surgery was really good once, but post covid now has the same ring at 8 for same day appointment. As do all the ones round here. I will need to sort it in half term.
Sleep I can work on. Have ordered magnesium spray. used it before, it helped.
need bed now. XXXNevertheless she persisted.2 -
I've just quit, Buffy. Taught with three kids but it consumed my life and my soul.
Even as a child free 20 something in the 90s end of term exhaustion was real.2 -

It's just to say, my mum was a teacher and had 3 of us, she was permanently exhausted just getting from holiday to holiday and this was back in the 90s when the workload wasn't what it is now! Once we were older and left home it obviously improved a bit but by then she was SLT and the workload was increasing...since she retired a couple of years ago the change is amazing, she looks years younger and actually has time for a life! So please don't underestimate how hard you teachers work.
I see a lot of people who are carers to family as part of my job - again don't underestimate the physical and emotional impact it has. You are often so hard on yourself, from the outside looking in you work so hard and do so much, looking after yourself is important too.
I hope you don't mind me saying this, I know it's probably a bit much from a random stranger but it's meant well. I hope you have a better week.Mortgage December 2023: TBC

Just a thought……are you in HSA or anything that would pay towards a consultation…..or one of the perks offered by union membership?January spends - £587.582

Hi BuffyIf you are unhappy with your GP practice then absolutely find a different GP. However I would suggest trying another NHS one first if you can - the private ones are not necessarily better. (I would be particularly wary of any that don't have clear routes for sorting any physical examinations you need, or that promote unjustified investigations like 'body MOT' or 'whole body scans'.)However, tbh I think anyone you see will suggest that it's your living situation that is the most likely cause of your stress and sleep issues - as @Alchemilla just said, it would be odd if you weren't tired. And those will be worsening any other issues, so need to be addressed regardless of whether it is making you ill by itself, or making you more ill by worsening a medical condition.Have you considered counselling, so that you can have some help thinking through strategies for dealing with your mum and what you want in the longer term?Hope your week gets betterRB xxDebt free May 2016... You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x1 -
Willow tree……..I’ve got vague recollections of the union offering something but I’m not 100% - would be worth looking into.January spends - £587.582
