Aldi had some of that sticky stuff remover last week. And it was lots cheaper than the last time I bought it!

Hi
I'll add this one to our main thread on the subject: sticky label removal

We've just had a new sink installed in the kitchen but unfortunately a label stuck in the basin has left a sticky mark. We've tried all the usual cleaners to remove it but no luck so far... any suggestions that don't risk scratching the steel?
Many thanks, and Merry Christmas!0 -
Hi beebuzz,
As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to an existing one that has lots of advice that may help.

Couldn't find my WD40 and had stubborn sticky residue on glass which wouldn't shift with alcohol, vinegar, acetone or oil. Success came with a dab of Brasso rubbed on with a bit of towelling rag and elbow grease. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Hi - thanks for the tips.....Removed a really sticky label on the back of a plastic/rubberised voice recorder a friend got me from a pawn-brokers. Eurgh! Such a lovely device but within a day was covered in everything and anything that could stick to sticky stuff residue - cat hairs, fluff, you name it......
Anyway - Tried lighter fluid, squirted it onto a clean rag (which was a bit tricky at first as it was aerosolized stuff and you're meant to push the nib of the can into the botton of a lighter) by depressing the nozzle and pointing at the rag - after a minute or two of wiping with the fluid soaked rag, and letting it soften up the glue, used the dry end of the rag to remove and it came off beautifully.
I realise now it's probably meant to be the pourable type of lighter fluid can, but this worked perfectly, no marks or stains from the fluid even though the case is slightly rubberised.0 -
Thankyou all for the tips. I have just bought a new washing machine and I couldn't get the sticky mark off the front.
WD40 worked straight away. :T£36/£240
