Except ..... WD40 = light oil and white spirit (the ingredients) and tipping oil down the drains is an offense. And a damned expensive way of doing nothing more than leaving the jar in the washing up water when you've finished does.
I remove all the labels for the glass recycling bin from all our jars. :A
I thought most people will hav suffered with trying to remove sticky labels that refused to budge no matter how much soaking and scraping you do!! Pasta sauce jars etc they come off very easily, but some stickers seem to have an industrial bond on them or something!0 -
I soak empty jars in hot water to remove most of the label and then deal with the remaining gluey residue with a squirt of washing liquid put onto one of the metal curly wurly scourers and a little elbow grease.
If the residue is more solid than just sticky then I use the blade of a knife to loosen it and then proceed with the washing up liquid, scourer and elbow grease.#Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain #We must be willing to let go of the life we planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us #If you focus on what you have left behind, you will never see what lies ahead - Gusteau/RatatouilleGC 2022: £0/£2,500 total spend0 -
I do my best with hot water and soaking and then, when I've made the jam, stick my label over their sticky bits.0
