Brush cleaner or white spirit, whatever you've got in. Brush cleaner seems to work best. I've decanted some into a small bottle which lives under the sinkIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

I've used WD40 to remove sticky label residue off DVD cases, it came off fine, and left no smell either.I Hate Jobsworths!!!0

WD40 is good, if that doesn't work try lighter fluid works a treat...you just need to give them wash afterwards.0

Trying to be frugal I bought some of the cheap self adhesive push in tea towel holders but they were useless as the towels kept falling out. Now when I try to unstick the holders they have left behind a lot of the base pad on the side of the worktop and I can't unpick it without marking the surface. Are there any old style treatments that might remove this without damaging the side panel? (apologies if this is the wrong forum to ask this question)0

Hi shezza,
As others have said, wd40 works every time for me. As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the main thread on removing sticky residue from labels to keep the suggestions together.

Thanks for merging this thread. It's been fascinating reading all the previous suggestions which will come in useful for other surfaces and labels. I'm off to get some WD40 and will report back.0
