I'm so sorry not to have been contributing. Life got exceptionally busy, flying was minimal and I ran out of time and energy. I'm back, thanks to a gentle email from Ionafan - many thanks for the kindly prod. I simply haven't had time to read back, but I've been thinking of you all and particularly you Kaz and Fayolle. I hope all teachers are now safely on their summer break and having a bit of a calm rest.Today I have:- watched Tom Daley win gold at the fourth attempt and cheered and cried when he finally did it because he's from Plymouth - Go Tom!- finished clearing the excess gibble out of the double, because it's let from Saturday;- watered all the front pots and pear tree because it hasn't rained here for 10 days and everything is wilting;- decluttered Belovéd to the station so he can disappear for three days;- flung out of date spices, washed the jars out and decluttered them into the recycling bin along with the rest of the recycling in the kitchen;- emptied the other two kitchen bins and tumbled the composters;- sorted all the catering stuff I used for the film Belovéd shot a few weeks ago, which is why I've been MIA, and boxed it to go up to the attic all ready for the next one;- cleared my Room of Doom of the excess gibble that has been collected in there since the beginning of the pandemic because the futon's let on and off for a few weeks because both letting rooms are booked for at least a fortnight;- banked some cash to reinvigorate a very depleted bank account after attending Ways with Words and buying far more books than I can read over the next few weeks;- had chats with the current lodger who is doing three fairly high-powered jobs at the moment and is therefore a teensy bit calmly frazzled at the edges but one of the easiest people we've had staying here - our first lodger after all the Lockdowns,so we were a bit ambivalent having enjoyed having the house to ourselves for months for the first time ever;- fed her and self with last night's leftovers so we could both just fuel up and carry on working;- got yesterday's laundry in, folded it and put most of it away (Belovéd's is on his bedside table because I still don't know where his stuff actually belongs, and truth be told I don't want to; he can put it all away)- run another lod through the WM which I can't hang out because it's now showering, which was inevitable because I did the watering at the front. Odds on it won't be heavy enough and I'll still have to do everything at the back tomorrow;- wrote a long post on the Giving Up / Cutting Down thread in Debt Free Diary section of the forum because today is my seven year anniversary of stopping drinking;- went out to breakfast to celebrate said anniversary, and jolly good it was too;- sorted another few boxes of gibble out that need to be up in the attic while things are so hectic here so they're not in the way but are easily accessible when I want them;- dug a bag of chicken out of the freezer to cook for the animals for treats because we're now out of treats for them;- followed up on an idea of where to eat out next month because the business is moving to new premises and it won't be the same if we don't go soon. It's at a vineyard that makes exceptionally good wine and marvellous cheese; and- planned this week fairly meticulously so that everything that needs to be done by their various deadlines will be fitted in around the commitments I've made. Now I've done all that I can do a bit of cleaning, which I think I've got down pat once the decks have been cleared. There are things I'd much rather be doing than cleaning, but I gave our bathroom a real drubbing on Sunday and we've changed the beds that needed changing already so it really is just dusting, floors and the shower room that need attention. The kitchen is fairly under control because I did that properly before the easy-going lodger moved in as I didn't know how fussy she'd be. I've found most lodgers seem to be okay with untidiness, thank goodness!Better is good enough.11

Lovely to have you back with us Honey Bear, and on such an auspicious day too. Congratulations! And I am amazed by all that you have achieved today.
I, on the other hand, managed to finish just 8 of the letters, without even taking Rosie out for a walk - she refused to go (probably because there was some thunder rumbling in the distance, although we haven't seen a spot of rain). But I did set up a database, which wasn't even on this morning's list
Hey-ho, tomorrow is another day...10 -
I decided to clean the bathroom because I had a bucket of water and a damp mop; both kitchen and bathroom have tiled floors. DR not done yet, tomorrow's job. Towels and cleaning cloths in WM

It was a heck of a day, Kaz, and I'm feeling it today. So far I've:- walked the dog;- showered and washed my hair;- pegged out last night's WM load which is drying despite the brief showers;- cooked the animals' treat chicken which they're now squeaking should be fed to them this instant;- put some things away that belong in the cupboard at the head of the bed, during which I discovered I needed to give the area behind the bedside table some serious attention, which it's now had;- vacuumed the rest of the bedroom, the bit of the landing not covered in boxes waiting to go up to the attic, and my office/ROD;- made the decision to move Twiglet's belongings down to the sitting room a few days early because leaving it until the last minute as Belovéd would prefer will mean I have to clean the room all over again and I just don't have the energy or the time;- dusted in there *cof* *cof* *cof*- found somewhere to stash the current sewing projects and ironing so they can all done when I get a moment rather than boxing everything up and putting it in the attic with the rest of the gibble there's no space for;- scoffed both breakfast and lunch (leftovers, which I love so all good).I now need to see how much more of the double I can get done, vacuum a bit more until the handheld thingy gives out and then run the ball one over some flat bits because it's all looking a bit yikes, cook, chill and freeze an apricot compote for Friday because they are at the peak of ripe perfection; and then check to see what else I can tick off one of the many scraps of paper listies I have scattered around the place.Better is good enough.11

HB, you are on a mission! In awe, I bow to your great flying example 😊 Congratulations on yesterday’s anniversary as well.
Wm x 1 done and drying outside, as we still have had no rain. DW emptied, then I went into work for a few hours for an urgent job. Now it’s done, I can stop worrying about it. Driving practice done with DD. Need to re-figure out a meal plan as it seems to have gone to pot, plus Mr M delivered last night, and some bits still need sorting. Dreaded hair wash needs to happen.I need to write a list and feel like I’m ticking jobs off.I hope the holiday packing finally happens, one way or another, Piggers.
Off to tidy gubbins from the back bedroom which I turned into a wfh office yesterday, and didn’t bother to tidy afterwards. Bad flylady.11 -
Hi all
Dry here too, cant actually remember when it last rained.
I was supposed to be cycling tonight but I have cancelled, I am tired and cant be bothered. Actually I am now fretting about this tiredness because I am worried it is my thyroid again. Due a blood test early August.
I am also anxious because we have gone into our arranged overdraft and I dont quite understand how we have overspent by so much! Need to look at that now.
Lots of washing done, dried and put away. Nothing much else done today other than the basics.
Well done HB and hope the interview was a success Pigpen.
I am off to try and be kind to myself and stop worrying about things that I cant change.9 -

I have finished the 48 letters and emailed about 18 of them. This evening I need to write envelopes for the remainder, then about 12 of those that are going to addresses outside the parish will be posted, and the rest will be delivered by hand tomorrow.
It has poured with lovely rain here since 4.30 - I had to rush out to bring in WMx2 off the line, put them in the TD, and have hung them on the airers in the bathroom to finish off.
Rosie was upset when the weather front approached and the air pressure changed but has relaxed again now, so I'll try to take her for a walk later. I must also phone a friend.
I think I'll make a quick curry for tea.
