Whilst it might be a quick question, it is not going to be a quick answer.BREAKTHROUGH said:A quick question, my friend received a judgement for claimant (in default) letter. They said they never received the claim form. They moved and this could have been lost in the redirected mail?? They wanted to know if there is anyway to appeal this? or would they have to pay? They are not good with computers so have asked me so thought I'd ask here for advice.
You/your friend need to be reading that part of the second post in the NEWBIES thread following the heading -
HAVE YOU FOUND OUT ABOUT A CCJ (JUDGMENT FOR CLAIMANT) AND NEED IT SET ASIDE?
If you want to progress that issue on this forum, then please start a new thread about it.
It will only lead to confusion trying to deal with two entirely different issues in the one thread.3

Just to keep you informed, I have received an acknowledgement of my defence from the CCBC. I am just waiting on the directions questionnaire now. Thank you all again for the help so far.

If they don't speak out, who will. They have less than a week to do it.Here's the thread that explains it all:

I really hope you AND YOUR FRIEND! have done the Government Consultation by email and objected absolutely to ANY debt recovery fake 'costs' being added on top of a parking charge (of course) and told them what you think of them increasing charges to £130 instead of £100...which is already extortionate.
You have 6 days to do the consultation. Please, please, do and do it by email so you attach evidence. Spread the word, is closes within days, next week!
Also, I hope you've also registered for the Group Action, against the DVLA (open to anyone with a PCN since 2018?). Gotta be in it to win it! Nothing to lose, and it's genuine.
Read the threads about those important matters, they both need doing, right now, this week.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hahahahaha , I like how you all keep saying you and YOUR FRIEND!!! Honestly guys I already have two too many to deal with so its definitely NOT Me. They visited me (as mentioned in previous messages above I was unwell) and noticed I was reading up on it after sending my defence and saw my claim form and asked. "You have 6 days to do the consultation. As for the 6 days, I think this may have now elapsed but I will definitely pass on all the advice above. I will help direct them as much as I can based on the info given here and help open a new thread.
I see why a new thread is ideal as mine will get lost in all of this.
Thank you all, you are all absolutely fab for all this advice.1

Yes - but that's wrong and I told the MHCLG in the Q&A session. It closes at MIDDAY Friday.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

They said during the Q&A session that it would be midday(ish) on Friday to allow them to get off early for the weekend (POETS Day). Pretty unprofessional in my view! Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Thank you all for the replies. By the time I was able to pass on all this great advice, he had decided to pay the over £400 fine. He said he called the CCBC and was told that he had to pay £200 to appeal the ?CCJ so he didn't want to have to go through all of that. But thank you all.
Still waiting for my directions questionnaires now so will keep you all posted once this has been received and completed.
