The gammon is now in the fridge cooling and firming up.  DH has sliced the gammon and we've packed it in usuable quantities.  We've got enough for 10 meals for both of us as part of a fry up; 2 portions of lardons and enough for a couple of sandwiches.  Pretty pleased with that!  Even though it loses a lot of water during the curing it makes such good bacon it's worth the cost.  I think the piece of pork was about £12.  So we've got about 1.5Kg of proper dry cure bacon so about £8 Kg which is less than half what you'd pay for it to be delivered by an online butcher.  I checked prices and they seem to range from about £17- over £20 Kg!

The avocado is finally ripe so we're going to have that with some prawns as a starter this evening; just as well as don't think the prawns would keep much longer!

@milann the ham is amazing; have already been eating the bits which didn't cut properly into slices!  Have left some out to have with salad for lunch tomorrow and the rest has been portioned up and into the freezer.

Same with the bacon - some out for breakfast tomorrow and the rest portioned and in the freezer.

Is is time for virtual ice cream @bubbs?  I really want some now but suppose I'll just have to make do with strawberries & yoghurt again!

    Evening all
I’m in that there London Town!
    What a day.
WI this morning- got my 1 stone award and lost another 1.5lbs, my consultant asked me to speak to the group as I’ve had such big losses. All the while I was thinking about that chicken Balti pie and chips I had on Saturday night
I had a couple of hours when I got home from Group before I had to get the taxi. Loads of time, I thought. I also had a list of things to do. I was feeling very smug that I had managed to do everything, was almost at the station and I realised I had forgotten my medication. So I had to tell the taxi driver to turn round and take me home again.
I missed my train, I also missed the train I rebooked (by literal seconds as the barriers wouldn’t open grrr) I had a phone appointment with the doctor as well that I had to cancel.
When I finally got to the hotel, the room I was given had no working air conditioning. And given it’s been hotter than an oven here today I wasn’t standing for that!!
I did manage to get to Harrods though. Christmas department is small but oh my life I could have bought it all! I bought two ‘Harrods 2021’ baubles- one green one for me and gold for mum.
But the best news is that I may well get to see the reason I was going to the NTA’s tomorrow as his isolation has ended today! My brother in law has joked that he will be disappointed if he doesn’t have to bail at least one of me or my sister out for excessive fangirling :D:smiley: but I have said I will behave. Maybe :D
    Today’s food:
B: HEXB overnight oats. 2 Syns for yoghurt
L: Whole-wheat pasta salad with ham. 1 syn for dressing.
T: Nando’s plain butterfly chicken, spicy rice and salad (5) Blueberries and fat free natural Greek yoghurt
    S: Crisps (8)
    Syns: 16
    Night all xx

That sounds a bit of a 'mare of a day @Mrs_Ryan!  Hopefully today's NTA will be as good as you hope.

Weather today is far better than forecast.  It's another really warm day and no sign of the promised showers - still really warm and humid.  Like the heat but not the humidity!

    Today's plan:

    B - bacon & mushroom sandwich - HEB; P; S; 3.5
    L - ham salad - P; S; F
    D - chicken & peppers in tomato sauce; mash - P; S; F

    HEA - milk
    HEB - bread
    Syns - butter 3.5

    Have a good day everyone.
