Hope the pain goes away soon @bubbs.

I think WW has changed to be more like SW with less measuring.

I'd never heard of Noom so took a look at the website. They do say it's a lifestyle change not a diet which is the same as SW. I think many people treat it as a diet, lose weight and then go back to eating what made them gain in the first place.

I agree with what Noom says about mindset. People have all sorts of emotional/psychological reasons for eating badly. It wasn't something I'd realised until I joined SW.

I've never held with the 'fill your boots' with free food @beanielou. It didn't make sense when SW is largely based on at least a third of Speed. It's logical to me that if you have more free food it upsets the proportions. 🤔

Best thing is i have a new linen top on and didn't want any spodges on it as didn't want it to stain so made a bib out of a tea towel incase i splodged 🤣

Morning all.  I must admit I looked at noom but from the reviews I've read it's not that great and people can't sustain the losses.  Personally for the last 18 months I've been working on my mindset and just my mental health overall after escaping from the toxic environment I was working in before.  When it comes to food I've over and under eaten depending on what's going on with my life and had an "all or nothing" approach to weight loss and my health, which has led to yo-yoing and gaining loads of weight and not really getting anywhere.  But slowly, with some external help, I'm starting to realise that small changes add up to big ones.  For the past 100 days I've set myself small targets to achieve each day and it seems to be working; things like

-drinking at least 3 litres of water a day
-making sure I have some fruit or veg with every meal
-increasing the amount of protein I'm having so I feel fuller for longer (and it does work!)
-do a workout or go for a walk every day
    -take my vitamins and supplements
-actually listen to my hunger and not eat according to a clock and check in with myself when I'm eating to see when I'm comfortably full (not clearing the plate even if it is speed food, is something that I've struggled with)

Doing all these little things have started to become automatic now and I'm definitely seeing results.  I'm also weighing myself everyday which may seem like it's obsessive but actually it's not; I'm quite desensitised from the scales now and can see that my weight fluctuates all through the week (as @maman says, weighing in weekly isn't always the best because your body doesn't lose weight that way!)  I just record what happens on a monday here and take that as a random figure.

It may not be 100% the SW way but I use the tools and techniques that SW has taught me over the years but with a little more flexibility because I'm starting to trust myself a little more.  There are a couple of podcasts and books that I've read which have helped me, alongside the therapy that I'm having so happy to share if anyone wants to know more.

Right after that big ramble, today I've had usual ff yogurt with strawberries and granola for breakfast, lunch is the last of the leftover meatballs with cous cous and salad and dinner is going to be soybean stew and rice, just to use some stuff up in the fridge and cupboard.  Hope everyone has a good day!

Morning all, I'm another who has a consultant that constantly drums the 'fill your boots with free food' mantra into us.  Some love it and it seems to work very well for them but it doesn't work for me.

I loved your post @ruby_eskimo!  At long last I'm trying to work on my mental wellbeing and relationship with food.  I work in a very toxic environment too (even working from home they find you) and have discovered quite a few toxic people around me that I'm slowly disengaging from - slightly harder and more upsetting when one is family.

A sneaky piece of toasted thick brown bread passed my lips last night.  I checked syn value earlier and it's 7.5 for one slice and 1 syn for the jam!    Hey ho I've written it down and will need to be SUPER careful for the rest of the week.

B - f/f Greek  yog with remaining berries
L - Smoked ham, l/over veggie hash, pickled cabbage and beetroot
D - Fish, 4 syns for breadcrumbs, SW chips, peas and sweetcorn with some salad leaves

    HEXA - s/s milk

Never worked for me either. I have had SW consultants who have said “you can eat the whole chicken if you like” when we were discussing amounts of food.  Although I am overweight I don’t eat massive portions and I never eat between meals so to “fill your boots” seems alien to me.  Also every food and drink contains calories and I know SW don’t count them but my son doesn’t get that either when he looked through all my SW stuff. he said it seems like everything is free on SW. 🤣

That makes perfect sense to me Ruby and is a similar approach to what I try to do…..with limited success. I’d got myself in a turmoil of writing everything down then was having battles with myself whether to ‘cheat’ and not record things. I realised I couldn’t carry on this way as it’s no good to anyone and not a healthy mindset. That’s when I walked away from SW to re evaluate - I realised I needed the weekly accountability and company so went back. I weigh myself most days but don’t get obsessive with it - like you I realise the body fluctuates depending on a lot of outside influences - not just what you put in your mouth. I had a lovely couple of days catering and eating with friends who visited. I enjoyed myself but today I’m just back doing my sw but using left overs too. If I’m going to make this work again for me I need to be able to fit it around my life and realise it’s for the long term not a quick fix. Saying that if the weekly meetings don’t work to help motivate me after my 6 week countdown I’m going to stop wasting my money once and for all.
    Right I’m off for a walk……

Interesting posts, plenty of food for thought. It's strange but I've fortunately never been one for emotional eating, just emotional drinking.☹  I gained most of my weight in a stressful job along with the lack of exercise and grabbing food from petrol stations etc that it involved. It was when I gave that up that I knew I had the time and inclination to focus on getting me back. I wish your son was right @Pennylane and Sauvignon Blanc was free! 🤣

I've been at target now for 10 years. I only go to group every 8 weeks unless I've slipped out of range which is fortunately rare. I find posting my food on here every day helps to get things straight and organised in my head and just enough to keep on plan without obsessing. Plus you're nice people!! 😁

I managed to spill baked beans all down me this morning @bubbs. It must be catching! 🤣

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash, baked beans (F), fried egg, bacon (P) HEB toast, HEA 1 milk for drinks
    L- JP (F), veggie chilli (P,S), pickles (S)
D- baked salmon (P), SW chips (F), carrot chips, roast cauli, garlic mushrooms with HEA2 (S)
    Syns- 0

    Afternoon all

See last night i normally i would have just eaten all my tea but 1) i realised i had had enough 2) that pain i had, so least i have learnt something, not to carry on eating when you are full 😂

I think it's my hiatus hernia playing up as had a niggle again today after i had eaten and the pain before was terrible in my back as well as chest, infact thought i was having a heart attack at the time 😱

    I will monitor it.

Maman we have beans for tea so might follow suit 🤣 i was just annoyed yesterday as clean tablecloth, it all missed the mat 🙄

Today i had my food back to front as was out so i had ham and spread cheese and cucumber soft pitta hexa, hexb.

Then for lunch i had strawberries and they were the best this year and were £1 from a stall and a nectarine.

Tea we have bubble and squeak, i will only have a little bit of this, beans, LM sausage, bacon, grilled toms, mushrooms and egg 😋

Hope the bubble and squeak went down well @bubbs. I love it and I've even had it served as a side in a restaurant. 😋
