joedenise said:Do you have Flogas in your area @bubbs? They could be another option, although no good until 2023. You have locked in at a great price. Our local Morries has just put LPG up to 67.9p which is still cheap compared to buying from other garages (we have refillable bottles in the motorhome).
Good luck with getting your gas sorted out. Definitely give them a mouthful when you get hold of them.
Oh i will tell , might even tell them we run out if they don't fill today but they do usually come in the morning and not been yet!
Well we used electric for heating last night and this morning, just turned it on for showers, hopefully will be enough for showers in the morning as i am not cooking today.Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -
I've not been on the last few days as I've not been very well...still not, really. I've got a coldy thing that I can't seem to shift.
It's not covid..
Anyway, thank you for the potato ideas. I've put some in my broccoli soup and I'll keep the others for mash/roasts/chips/JP etc and see what's in the £1.50 Lidl fruit & veg box, if I manage to get one this week.
I'm putting my meal plan together today for the next 4 days and will weigh in tomorrow as I completely forgot on Friday!
Is someone able to tell me what loaves of bread are HEB's, preferably for 2 slices? I know the wholemeal pittas and the wholemeal sandwich thins are, but I quite like 'normal' bread..0 -
Sorry to hear you're unwell @FrankieM, hope you pick up soon. There's definitely a 'super cold' going around.
AFAIK all 400g wholemeal loves have 2 slices for a HEB but there are a few large loaves too. Probably the best known are Neville's Wholemeal from Tesco and Morrisons Medium Wholemeal. Looking at the website I can see a Coop Honest Value loaf 720g and Aldi Everyday Essentials Medium are 2 slices too. I suppose it depends what shops you have nearby. Personally I've been enjoying rye bread lately but if you wanted a sandwich then the 2 slices are an excellent idea.
Great news for your DH @TakeItEazy. At last!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The end of term can't come quickly enough as so many schools are ravaged by Covid. It's great that most children don't get really unwell but it's hard to cope with staff off sick. Hopefully the school holidays will act as a bit of a circuit breaker but omicron seems to be spreading like wildfire.
🤞🏼 your gas turns up soon @bubbs but it sounds like Calor have a bit of a monopoly so they don't care. Of course, it could be that they aren't paying their drivers well enough so they have staffing problems. I know that's what's happening with the bin lorries around here. 🤔
Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash (F), fried eggs, bacon (P), HEB toast, HEA milk
L- JP (F), veggie chilli (P,S), cottage cheese (P), pickled cabbage, beetroot (S)
D- roast beef (P). SW roast potatoes (F), 6 vegetables (S)
Syns- gravy 4, horseradish 1, weekend wine😁2 -
Thanks @maman...I meant to specify Aldi, as that's where I do my weekly shop.
I need to get a list of HEBs for my next shopping day...
I don't suppose you know the syn values for the microwaveable rice pouches? All of them, if you have them....and the pasta n sauces.
It's helpful to have easy stuff like that in the cupboard, but not if it's loads of syns
Thank you x0 -
It seems that syns are creeping up on the rice and pasta packs @FrankieM . ☹️
It's sneaky about the rice. It's listed as 0.5 for plain Aldi rice and 1 for pilau and egg fried for 100g BUT the packs are 250g so that adds up. Personally I cook my own, cool quickly and freeze in 250g portions in sandwich bags for microwaving.
The lowest syns for Batchelors pasta n sauce chicken and mushroom and tomato and herb which are 0.5. However, that's a bit vague too as some say 110g packs, others 99g.🤔 Let me know any flavours you particularly like and I'll look them up but most of the others are much higher syns. HTH. 😊
ETA - I think the best thing to do is go to Aldi and then post the things you'd want to eat then we can tell you the syns. Make sure you note the pack sizes.
I just scanned a pack of Aldi golden vegetable rice in the cupboard and it said it was syn free but it's listed as 1 (I think) on the website. Either loads of recipes are changing or SW are changing their minds. 🤔1 -
Evening all
Maman no gas never showed up! They will be getting the sharp end of my tongue tomorrow, that's when i get through as first time i rang i was 58th in the que! Friday i was 53rd!! I will be on the phone at 8am when they open !!
Frankie, hope you soon feel a bit better.
We have been out on a family meal today, i had carvery, infact we all did, syns for yorkie, roasties, honey glazed toast carrots and parsnips, they were delicious 😋😋 well this was 1pm, for tea i had soft pitta with ham and beetroot in, hexa babybel light and tomatoSealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -
Morning all, I had a lovely weekend. Was out for lunch on Saturday and dinner at a friends last night. Lunch was quite synful as I had chicken which came with a mushroom sauce and of course there was wine! Dinner was better as it was pasta and salads and I drove so no alcohol involved. I lost two pounds on Saturday but have the feeling that might be reversed after those meals plus I'm also out Thursday and Friday! It is lovely being out and catching up with people you haven't seen for so long or only on a screen though.
This week is going to be damage limitation, will enjoy both lunches but try really hard for every other meal.
So breakfast today was bran flakes, f/f yoghurt and raspberries, lunch is baked potato with tuna and salad and dinner is gammon steak and veggie hash with broccoli. Only syns might be 1.5 for some salad cream for salad.
Have a good day all

Afternoon all - hope you manage to get the gas sorted today @bubbs, glad to hear you're safe and sound in France @joedenise, fingers crossed for you DH @TakeItEazy, well done on the NSV's @Mrs_Ryan, hope you feel better soon @FrankieM and hope your dad's move back closer to home goes smoothly @klew. Apologies if I missed anyone's news!
Had a couple of days off at the end of last week and then a busy weekend helping DH finish his Christmas shopping and getting some house bits he needed. Friday night we went to RHS Wisley for their Glow event and it was very festive. I may have had a salted caramel hot chocolate and a burger king meal that evening, plus some timbits from Tim Hortons (basically doughnut / cake pop things) so half a pound on wasn't too shabby this morning.
Didn't manage breakfast today but did have butternut and red pepper soup for lunch, and dinner tonight is going to be poutine because DH requested it and we have potatoes to use up. Hope you all have a great day.
