Morning all.  Finally back in the land of the living.  Spent Thursday in bed feeling awful but it clearly did me good as woke up Friday feeling a whole lot better.  DH took me out for breakfast and then we went back to the place where we got married for a very slow walk around the gardens, followed by dinner at a nice restaurant, so a very low key but lovely anniversary.  Then Saturday and Sunday we just chilled at home ready for a full week back at work.

Weighed in this morning to a 4lb gain but not too worried about it.  Back on track today and will try and go for another walk this evening (not anywhere near ready to work out again but the walks are doing me good and getting me some fresh air).  Had porridge for breakfast, made with almond milk and blueberries (and a little drizzle of golden syrup).  Lunch is going to be a vegetable rosti using up a some carrot, onion, courgette and radish and topped with a fried egg.  Dinner is homity pie with Linda M red onion and rosemary sausages - looking forward to getting some vegetables in!

Hope everyone is doing well and staying warm!

So pleased you were well enough to enjoy your anniversary @ruby_eskimo. It sounds like a lovely day and well worth the syns. We had a walk yesterday and, I find, it lifts my mood as well as the obvious exercise bonus.

Sounds like your syns were worth it too @Gettingtherequickly. I've always advocated the scenic route to target but it is worth persisting. I wouldn't say it's easy staying in that 6lbs window ( more usually a 3lb window for me😉) but it is so worth it. 😊

I almost always average my one third Speed across the day too @Jellybaby so you should be fine with just beans for dinner as you're having a massive salad. Well done for using stuff up. I have either the Aldi skinny sausages (half a syn) or the Sainsbury's BGTY (1 syn). I think I prefer Aldi despite the rather chewy skin.

You've probably told us before but, which recipe do you use for the chickpea curry @joedenise? I definitely need to add to our repertoire of veggie dishes. I added some red beans and chickpeas to my pasta salad on Saturday and really enjoyed them. It worked well as I was opening tins ready for the chilli.

    Today's EE plan-
B- NAS grapefruit squash, banana (F), HEB porridge, HEA milk, berries (S)
L- ham (P), fried veg and beetroot (S)
D- veggie chilli (P,S), brown rice (F), cottage cheese (P)
    Syns- 0

Thanks for the good wishes for this evening's appointment.  Will let you know how it goes either later this evening or tomorrow morning.

Had a couple of extra syns at breakfast as had a bit of maple syrup with my baked oats.

Sounds like you had a lovely anniversary @ruby_eskimo; good that you were feeling so much better to be able to enjoy it.  It's amazing how our bodies seem to know when we need to have a good rest!

I sort of make it up as I go along @maman but the one on SlimmingEats is fairly similar to what I do.  The main difference being I make my own spice mix up rather then adding the same as she does.  I mix a batch big enough to do about 8-10 portions of curry.  It's a flavoursome mix rather than a hot mix, although if I add too much it can turn out a bit hot!  It has quite a bit of Speed foods in it.  I add ginger, garlic & chilli to softened onions, cook out for a few minutes then add 2 Tbs of my curry mix and cook out again.  Add a tin of chopped tomatoes, a grated carrot, a grated courgette and cook until the sauce thickens a bit.  I sometimes add some celery and mushrooms as well.  It's one of those recipes where you can add all sorts of veg to it.  I prefer the veg to be finely chopped or grated.  You could also add some red lentils, butternut squash or sweet potato to it.

I agree about the SW sausages @Jellybaby - I think they're horrible as does DH.  I buy low fat sausages from my local butcher and syn them at 1 syn each - they are really nice and no fat comes out of them when they're cooked and well worth the 1 syn each and 2 is plenty.

Have been shopping this morning as didn't get any done at the weekend with going away and then the weather being awful and didn't want to go out!  Have bought some stew veg so am going to get some beef out of the freezer and make a SC full to portion up for the freezer.  Think I've put a couple of stews on this month's menu plan!  That's what I love about winter the warming stews and casseroles.

Soup looks really good @bubbs. Like @joedenise said, we need food like that in the winter.

Let us know how you get on buying shoes. I have insoles. Mine are just recommended by the podiatrist (not specially made for me) as my toes were crampy. I found it really difficult to find shoes that are deep enough to take the insoles IYSWIM. 🤔

    It was nice 😋

The place i am looking at is also online, they are £100 odd a pair 😥 but they are deep and have removeable insoles in as she is not confident insoles are going to be the answer because of the shape of my foot with my arch being so high

Well I'm back from the hospital and just finished dinner!  Decided it was too early to eat it at 5pm as wasn't hungry enough so I had a couple of crisp breads with Primula (0.5 HEB2/0.5 HEA2).  DH had a couple of peanut butter sandwiches, yuk!

There was good news and bad news at the hospital.  The good news is that I don't need an operation and that an injection should do the trick.  The bad news is that it is best done under ultrasound which will be another £420 (still it's better than the £600 the Dr thought it was).  Couldn't actually book the appointment as the girl who books the appointments was off sick today but "hopefully" she'll be back in tomorrow and she'll then call me with an appointment for next Monday afternoon.  Seems a bit daft to me that the woman who was there couldn't book the appointment as she was able to check that there were appointments available!

He also said that I can get some physio for it a couple of weeks after the injection but of course that's when I'm on holiday so once I've got the appointment I'll phone up the physio centre and arrange an appointment for when I come back.  I've got authorisation for 4 sessions already but I've only had one so can have another 3 but they'll have to be next year after my France holiday!

Just having a G&T to celebrate the good news!
