Baron_Dale - thank you, unfortunately it will be about 10-12 weeks (I'm hoping) before I will be able to drive. After the op this eye will be 'signed off' by the clinic in 4 weeks and then hopefully I'll have the other eye done in another 2-3 weeks and then have to wait until that has been 'signed off' after another 4 weeks as well, get my eyes tested and then I should be ok to drive 🙂 but it will be all worth it and at least I'll be saving fuel money 🤣🤣

So I've just been paid and as I can't get to the shops as easy as normal during this pay period, I thought it would be a good time to have a really frugal 4 weeks until I get paid again. I'll come on here and log it all spending on and what meals I cobble together from what I have in and what's still growing in the garden etc.
I did take some advice off here and have made a few meals that are in the freezer and eldest DD took me shopping the other day and I did a shop which should last the first week at least. I think it will probably be milk and yogurt that I mainly run out of but theres bound to be other things as well. I have eldest dgd and dog (the old one not the pup) staying Friday, Saturday and Sunday as eldest DD is away for a couple of days but I have bought everything for her to make a lasagne, and have pizza in that she can cook for us whilst she's here. She is under instructions to take the dog out, cook and hoover for me, which is more than she does at home 🤣🤣🤣 so I'm quite looking forwards to be waited on!! She's nearly 19 years so she's more than capable 🤣🤣
And then I'm on my own, peace and quiet!! Anyway this frugalling starts now so I'm off to bed as I have a busy day tomorrow, just making sure I've got everything ready, got all the paperwork together for Thursday and putting a lock on my purse!!! Sounds a bit like going on holiday except for the lock on the purse🤣

nannygladys said:joedenise - thank you, I have opted for long sight and reading glasses, but may have to have specs for driving, but just happy it's happening🙂
You won't have to wait until after you've had the 2nd eye done to drive as long as your vision without the lens on that side is good enough to read a number plate at 25 yards (same as needed to drive anyway) then you'll be able to drive. I could have been driving after a few days but decided to leave it just over 2 weeks before doing so.2 -

I was paid just after midnight so stayed up and did the money shuffle so all monies are in the correct place now, all except the fuel money that I will put somewhere.
Our local bank closed its doors about a week ago and it's quite a walk to the nearest atm to withdraw my monthly cash, just as well I don't need any at the moment. Once upon a time we had four banks in our little town (all very small branches) and over the years they have shut one by one. There is going to be a bank hub at the local sports centre but it's quite a trek for me to get there, so I will have to start using the ATM when I can get to the nearest large sm, which is also a long trek but in the opposite direction. Its not easy to get hold of your money in cash these days, but out of principle I would like to have the choice so always withdraw my months budget in cash!!!! I'm turning into a grumpy old woman🤣🤣
So tomorrow is the big day for eye number one, which is booked in for 9:20am so nice and early and hopefully I will be home after lunchtime. They said you had to wait at least 3 hours after the op to make sure everything is ok. Sil is dropping me off in the morning but can't pick me up until he has had a job interview at lunchtime, so I may not be home until mid afternoon, but at least they supply you with free tea and coffee😃 at the clinic.
So that's it, not sure if I'll be on tomorrow but thank you all for the kind and positive good wishes, they keep me feeling positive about it all, thanks again.

Good luck for tomorrow. I expect you already know this, but you can withdraw cash from a post office if there is one near you. KA1

Good luck for this morning, I'm sure everything will be fine. You'll certainly be glad you've had it done after a couple of days and you can see properly again. I suspect they'll tell you but it's a good idea to get the lens taken out of your glasses as the prescription will definitely be no good once your eye is done! It's a bit weird wearing glasses with only one lens!
