Bogus? You yourself supplied the reading that Bulb used.Ehi said:
I have been ... told by e-On they are reviewing my bill. The gent quickly apologized and promised to contest it with bulb as they both have been using bogus readingsReed0 -
The first thing I do when moving into a new property is take a meter reading and photo's of the readings. Then if my chosen supplier is not the one that the landlord or previous tenant had I can question any bill that is for more than the units/kWh used in the time it takes for the move to be completed and send them dated proof of my contract and moving in date with the photo's.Ehi said:hello,
I just moved to a new property and signed up to BULB energy, but was told i will be switched over from e-On energy.
I then got an estimate for £69 per month from BULB, but got a bill from e-On saying I owe £328 which is for the 2 months they supplied me
Unless I missed something, I did not get a breakdown of the bill
kindly advise

I used to use a cheap camera in the early days but as phones became enabled with good cameras I went to using the phone, photographic proof of an opening or closing reading carries more weight than someone in an office saying that a difference in readings would be the new householder waiting a while before taking readings when backed up with other evidence like a tenancy agreement showing the date the tenancy started. The landlord would then be libel for any difference in the bill, assuming the departing Tennent assuming they gave the company a closing reading.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
I read my meters weekly, every Friday, and if you wish you can work out the usage by using the price per kWh from your supplier, which might be minus VAT, I use the prices with VAT added, my monthly bill is around £43 but I am having work done on the place so this months bill at the moment stands just over £20, my billing date is the 19th.Tallerdave said:Reading the meters weekly for a while will help you get a good idea of summer consumption at least. Electric readings are already in kWh, but gas readings are in m3, so once you know how many m3 you've used, multiply by 11 to get a rough kWh figure.Someone please tell me what money is0 -
I just got an email from BULB which says my account is in £187 credit and they want to issue me a max of £120 refund
I replied asking for a full refund and waiting
I thought with modern day technologies, there would be far transparent accountability with these issues ???Reed_Richards said:wild666 said:The first thing I do when moving into a new property is take a meter reading and photo's of the readings. I was initially told, they had a smart meter and took the readings themselves, again I thought there was greater accountablity with these issuesBogus? You yourself supplied the reading that Bulb used.0 -
I just got an email from BULB saying they issued me a full refund of £187.05
Earlier they said
I've fixed the issue with your billing and your account is £187.05 in credit as a result. I can issue you a refund of up to £120, please let me know if you'd like me to do this.
I think I am quite shocked. When I first started living alone. I had a pay as u got meter and I was billed about thrice what I am billed now. Then I had a one bed and now I have a 3 bed
I wish I knew back then. I guess they sent the barbers after me :'(0 -
There’s a reason the energy companies deliberately build up credit as the winter approaches.0

Good morning guys
BULB sent me a full refund of £187 yesterday and I got a letter in the post from e-On today saying they revised my bill and from £318.66 they are dropping it to £147.70. From Jan 18 to March 23rd, which I still think is very high. As though I got the key on the 18th, I moved in on the 25th
updated meter readings are thus from e-On
29feb - 23 march - 13051E 13135C NORMAL 84KW Hours
usage charges £13.93
standing charges - £6.840 -
I'm glad you reached a satisfactory outcome.Reed0

I wont say satisfactory, as I would still send the complaint in this weekend, when I have a bit of free time.Reed_Richards said:I'm glad you reached a satisfactory outcome.
I am still not happy with e-On's charges and E.ON_Company_Representative:_Helena seems to be no where to be found ???
As BULB says I use about £30 - 40 estimate (base on meter readings) monthly, while e-On is billing me close to £80 pcm for the new meter readings
Looking beyond £ and DD, as advised, I will still look into my usage and charges
You guys have been very helpful and a huge eye opener to the level of injustice and unfair play that goes on. Its unbelievable0 -

If your meter reading are correct (actual not estimate) the part of the reason for increase will be the tariff you are now on. Bear in mind the £80 is for 12 months (not just summer months - would you rather pay £40 a month now and £100 a month in Winter?) so should even out over the 12 month period. If you're in credit this time next year ask for a refund.
