If I remember correctly I could view my readings online when I was with Bulb.  I also got monthly statements as email attachments that showed the meter readings on which the billing was based.
The OP has said he has had a bill from E.on -   that will show their opening reading.  If he also send E.on the latest reading he will get a new bill. He is going to be in credit for quite a while.

So e-On are using the same handover reading for gas (as they should) but a completely different reading for electricity.  As a result you have been greatly overcharged for your electricity.  I think probably the thing to do now is to raise a formal complaint with e-On.  But other regular contributors to this board have a better understanding of the correct protocol than I do so may be able to give better or more detailed advice.

Agree time for a formal complaint  - do it by snail mail with proof of posting - don't waste your time phoning or emailing.

Keep to the facts - keep emotion out of it. You'll probably get a goodwill payment of £30

You want a complaint to E.ON that they used a wrong closing reading for your account and you want:
A new bill using the Bulb opening reading of 13141
    A refund of any overpayment
The standard 'we messed up' payment of £30
    An apology

I would also complain to Bulb that while you are happy with them the change of supplier did not go smoothly and their opening reading was not passed to E.ON and see if you get £30 from them too.

But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I think it would be worthwhile explaining (as facts) how frustrated you were that you were not listened to and how alarmed you were at the threat of a CCJ if you can manage to do that without getting too emotional in the letter.

This graphic explains how the process is supposed to work. Communication is via industry messages. I would be very surprised if the losing supplier didn’t get the same message on readings as the gaining supplier. Note: there are no lines of direct communication between the two suppliers.

I find @[Deleted User]'s graphic quite an effort to understand but what it means for you is that the reading you gave to Bulb could potentially be adjusted by their (independent) Metering Agent but that has not happened in your case.  The metering agent acts in the role of an independent adjudicator and having determined an adjudicated reading (which was the same as the one you gave Bulb) should pass that back to Bulb and (indirectly) on to e.On.  There is a time limit for the metering agent to respond, six weeks I think, but it must have passed some time ago. Somehow the correct reading got back to Bulb but did not get through to the bit of e.On that generates the bills.

  • Follow the arrows. Consumer informs new supplier that he wants to switch; new supplier informs MPAS/DNO who informs old supplier that a switch has been accepted. Old supplier does nothing or it raises a switch objection (dotted line). New supplier requests opening reading which is validated by New Supplier Metering Agent. Once validated, the reading is passed back to new supplier (opening reading) and to the Old Supplier Metering Agent. Old Supplier Metering Agent passes the meter reading back to old supplier (closing reading). Old supplier raises final bill within six weeks of actual transfer of supply.

Two key points: the new supplier manages the transfer of supply AND there is no need to give the old supplier a reading.

Thank you very much. It's very much appreciated

I have been promised a refund by Bulb and told by e-On they are reviewing my bill. The gent quickly apologized and promised to contest it with bulb as they both have been using bogus readings

I wonder where thay eon rep on here is ???

I will send the formal complaint this weekend. I have spent years in court fighting to see my daughter.  So I had a good idea of formal complaints

But will post on here if I need help

Once again, This is very much appreciated
