I am being billed £328 for 2 months by e-On after moving to a new property
hello,
I just moved to a new property and signed up to BULB energy, but was told i will be switched over from e-On energy.
I then got an estimate for £69 per month from BULB, but got a bill from e-On saying I owe £328 which is for the 2 months they supplied me
Unless I missed something, I did not get a breakdown of the bill
kindly advise
E

Landlord not signing up for empty period?I hope you have a read for the day you signed the contract for (does not have to be the day you moved in but likely is). Give this to eon and let that chase the landlord / previous tennent.0

Sounds like you've done things the wrong way around...When you move in to a new place you first register with the existing supplier, set up and account, give them the opening meter reading and set up a payment method, then, and only then do you try to switch away.Do you now have an account with E.ON?Have you given E.ON your opening reading on the day you took control of the property and have you given then a current meter reading? If not the odds are they are basing their claim on estimated readings...0

Eon would have been the suppliers when you moved in and you should have contacted them and given them your meter reads. If not it is quite possible that you are being billed for the previous occupier.
What were the reads when you moved in - what are they today ?
What estimate did you give Bulb of your annual consumption ?
Don't forget the DD is only a contribution to your bill - not the bill itself.
PS Have a closer look at the bill - all the meter read info will be there - perhaps on page 2Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Sounds like you didn't sign up with the incumbent provider, you didn't provide an opening meter reading and / or a current reading hence you've been on their default tariff which will be very expensive.Your lettings or estate agent hasn't done you any favours if they didn't advise you.The Bulb figure is very low. What estimated annual kWh consumption did you give them? You're likely to get a shock if your DDs don't cover your usage, your DD will rocket dramatically.Send E.On today's reading, pay the (revised?) bill and then start comparing with Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch', making sure you enter realistic annual kWh figures. Just compare annual costs, always ignore all projections and savings claims: they aren't realistic because of Ofgem's daft rules. Remember that separate suppliers are often cheaper than dual fuel, so do the sums for both. Also have a look at the customer service ratings on Citizens Advice and the 'Add your feedback on energy supplier xxxx...' threads here on the forum.0

Why do people still sign up with bulb in this day and age. They were once competitive but now overpriced and variable rate…..don’t see the lure myself.0

Everyone has pretty much summed up what the issue is here, so thank you.
When you move in to a property, we need to be notified so we can open an account from your meter reads. This is even if you want to change supplier.
If you have the reads from the date you took responsibility, then we can look at producing a revised bill. If we're not given reads we do have to base the bill on estimates.
Do get in touch and we can have a look through things for you.

thanks everyone
after going back and forth with my landlord, the meter readings for both produced by e-On are accurate. (Unless we missed something) I have gone back and forth with both e-On and bulb
Bulb put me on an estimated plan of £69 pcm and sent a revised bill of usage of about 42.54 PCM, so i am in credit with them of a total of £88.48
Meanwhile e-On and I have been going back and forth and was passed to their legal team who demanded I start making payment of would be given a ccj.
e-On is charging me £164 pcm and a total of 2 months totalling £328. So will pay it off and write a review of my experience online0 -
@Ehi Please stop thinking in terms of £'s and DD's . What is important is your actual consumptions. Get into the habit of reading your meter every month - giving those readings to your supplier, keeping your own records and then reading and understanding your bills.

I was advised that its a smart meter so they automatically get my gas, but I have gotten monthly estimates and sent to my new supplier. I am just upset about the over inflated charges
How do you compare £42 from BULB approx to £160 for e-On ??? for the same usage ? As I live alone in the property
e-ON is very difficult to deal with, as they keep you on the phone forever, I just have been over 20mins on the phone this morning and cant get an agent to both 03453665973 and 03453015337 and its not the first time, will try again later

You are still thinking in £££ and DD. There is only 1 true figure and that is how many kWh you have actually used multiplied by the unit rate that you are being charged + the standing charge for the number of days.
Anything else based on estimates is essentially a guess.
