Beware Lebara

Just got a Lebara sim on mse recommendation, but sending pics taken on iphone via messages is blocked. This seems peculiar to Lebara. Guide needs to warn of this.

  • Possibly not included in the package price to send pics through messaging. You might need a sufficient balance in your account to pay the extra for them?

Picture messages are 45p per message on ANY brand of phone aka MMS.
You can add credit for those if you want to do it that, now old-fashioned, way.

Otherwise, use an alternative way (WhatsApp is one example) that uses data (inclusive or charged at 9p/MB out of bundle).

Googling the problem for iPhones leads me to believe that disabling MMS might work? then iMessage (whatever that is ;) ) should do it by default, but won't if you have poor/no data connection.

It's likely user finger trouble / phone setup issue?

Why anyone still pays for MMS is still a mystery to me.
  • Both me and the good lady have used Lebara for best part of a year and have been very pleased with the service and price.

We regularly share photos and videos with family and friends using WhatsApp or email and have never had a problem.

Only time I can think of it being useful is a "feature" phone (why are they called that?) with only voice/text plus a camera and a need to share a picture with no computer to hand.

    Vodafone Xtra plans.

I meant though that with Whatsapp, iMessage, Signal, email, etc. there's no need to be paying per message any more

Bit pointless if the other party does not have any of those  .
Also its relatively straightforward for many users to just send pictures that way .

Not that i would ever send pictures .

Smarty, Voxi and Superdrug mobile (well, it's included in messaging bundles on all three anyway).
