Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Evening all,
Just wanted to add hugs to catowen
Had a good day at work, now I need to get off my bum and do this cursed ironing!!
Our landlady came round today and was so impressed with our tree she has asked us to get her one from the same place! Good job we spent yesterday tidying upWe must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Hi,
Catowen Big hugs to you. Your mum's partner sounds like a real pig, so good on you for not putting up with him any longer. Why should you? It's your life, your house and he's not your dad. I hope that you can continue a good relationship with your mum anyway.
Well it's been a busy weekend as we had a party for DD2 on Saturday as she was 7 on Thursday. It went really well, only one child didn't turn up (or bother to tell me), two were really late and were then picked up 20 minutes late, oh yes and announced they were both vegetarians as I handed out the prepared party boxes of food! This wouldn't have been a problem if their parents had bothered to tell me beforehand as I had made up a special box for another child whose mum had told me before the party.
DD2 had a great time and was really lucky to receive so many great presents from her friends.
Also on Saturday DD1 (11) was playing her sax in a xmas concert that her orchestra were taking part in, so DH went to see that as DD2 wanted to stay at home as she was shattered after her party.
On Sunday we went to church in the morning and then straight over to my MIL's for lunch. She was her usual negative self and I though DH was going to tell her to shove it and walk out of the house. She is supposed to coming over to us for xmas day. DH has said that he will go and get her and bring over everything she needs, zimmer, commode etc and we'll do everything else. Of course she keeps saying 'If I come over...' well it's her choice as if she doesn't she'll just be cutting off her nose to spite her face and she'll end up on her own on xmas day otherwise. I just hope she makes an effort to be cheerful as my parents are coming over to spend the day as well. They are going to Australia the day after Boxing Day for 8 weeks to stay with my brother, so it will be the last time I see them for a while. So I just hope she isn't too grumpy!
I did a bit of food shopping in Aldi yesterday while I was getting MIL's weekly shop so I didn't need to do any today. I'm not planning on going again until the Wednesday before xmas day and that will be my last shopping trip before the big day (hopefully).
So today I took the girls to school and then caught up on some schoolwork and gave the house a good clean. I made sausage and pepper pasta bake for tea which went down well.
Did I hear someone mention Snowballs? Funnily enough I bought 4 little bottles last week in Tesco for £1.50. I've stashed them away as this is one of my little xmas treats.
Goodnight from me.0 -
OK
I have been back on - not bigheaded. Every time I have done an edit I have done a delete. Just been back on to try and delete and not happening. Will try again . I know you are getting bored with the same old post!
Love GB xxxx0 -
Right, just have had the same problem again - a double post and can't (but finally!) deleted. What is going on here. Honest it is not me. It must the the computer or the site,

Off to bed now. I am still upset about my mother's comments and the fact this site is playing up. Don't worry, I take your banter on board! I just don't know what happened tonight.
Lots of love and hugs to you and yours. Hopefully this will only post once. (So sorry about what has happened tonight - not intentional!).
Love and hugs

I had a terrible phone call with my Mum tonight. My cousin (56) gone up for lunch and she is 32 stone and my Mum thinks this is OK as she is lonely and doing internet dating and has had two husbands. Guy was supposed to phone her but didn't. Mum said to me tonight, you will do that if anything happens to DH. I said, well, I don't really think so as I have my work, my friends and my family. I don't think I would be that desperate as I haven't had any serious issues with DH and love him to bits.
All due respect GB, but I really don't think that anyone who uses the internet to find suitable prospective partners is at all desperate. In fact I think that such people are proactive about addressing their situation, and are to be admired for doing something about changing things for themselves.0 -

Have to agree with you about this Tipsy. My friend's mum was widowed a few years ago and after a period of time met someone lovely on the internet who has brought great joy to her life.
Aussie....I've been using brown paper for years to wrap my prezzies. Then the girls stamp it with Christmassy shapes. We are a family of trendsetters.

Oh - I thought it was the weight that GB was pointing to as a sign of desperation. I am slightly desperate but would consider internet dating in any case. My dsis found a guy on match.com in canada and if it works out will transfer her subscription to me. before she does that I need to put up the newtome double bed that's I got from my friend last year as I only have a single at the moment. My friend thinks its freudian and that I'm scared to put it up as then there'll be no excuse not to date but the real reason is that I can't afford a mattress yet - honest
the dress rehearsal was fantastic - even dd11 enjoyed it although there were a lot of "in" jokes it being a work thing. The funniest bit was the scarecrow, Jack Straw, who has no brain and can't make any decisions. The friend that I went to watch was Aunt Eminem and she was brilliant -
night everyoneI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080
