Oh Penny Pincher you've fair wore me out reading your thread ! I've got nothing done (but did get bank charges for ex foster boy refunded to him so positive result). Other than that, house is a mess, cats are making the 'It's my tea-time' howl and sausages not yet de-frosted for dinner for me and OH !!
Must think of something to do with them thats more exciting that chips and eggMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Right everybody - close your ears and cover your eyes!!!!
I did not "moneysave!!!!!!" I'll beat myself about the head with a vinegar soaked microfibre cloth later!!
Went to swimming pool with DD to look for swimsuit for Thursday - nothing suitable!
Went to local sportshop tonight - nothing suitable!
Had visions of trailing round York tomorrow on my own trying to second guess what she would like and dreaded it!
Had look online and found a site called swimhut - found a lovely suit that she really likes and paid for special delivery on Wednesday!
As she is not 14 till January and is very slim it is difficult to find something suitable that is not either too adult or too sporty but this is really nice.
Told her it is an early Christmas pressie and she better cross her fingers and toes that it arrives in time!
DH looked a little worried when I declared " money isn't everything!"
But what is the point of getting something for a few pounds less if she would not wear it. even the special delivery price is less than the bus fare to York and a coffee!

No lodger stories??? Or is she out "uncling?"
Hugs to all - family want fed so see you later!"This site is addictive!"

First, can i say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for their support and wishes. Since Saturday i had been wondering if i had been unreasonable, but after what you have all been saying, i know i have been right. Nobody deserves to be shouted at, belittled and made to feel they have to leave their own house, and that im not being silly, not wanting the 'over friendly' behaviour. Ive put up with it for so many years, but im not going to any longer.
When i next speak to my mum, i will tell her, that like my dad, she is more than welcome but her partner isnt. It shouldnt be a surprise to her that i dont like him, it has been a recouring (sp) thing. It all started when she left my dad for him - my mum and dad hadnt got along for many years, so that wasnt the problem, it was the way she did it with this chap.
The reason i dont speak to my dad, is due to his wife, she caused so many problems with me and my ex, was seen with her ex husband and various other things, but my dad has been blind to it all - he is old enough to look out for himself, but the problems she caused between me and my ex have ruined our relationship, and in turn made it worse for my children made it impossible for us to have any type of relationship.
Like i said earlier, i feel dreadful not speaking to my parents, whilst i still have them, and it is sad that so many others have the same problems, but i think there comes a time when you have to priorities (sp) and again, like some have said, look after your own family and make sure things are right with them.
I love my children more than anything, and im sure to some it must sound like i make a lot of sacrifices for them, but as they said on Friends once, their is no such thing as a self less act - i get so much joy from them that i do it all gladly.
Ive actually had a lovely day with the LO today - we have made some green handprints ready to make into a christmas tree, and also did a painting for him to take home today. Ive also worked out how to print of the picture i have of him dressed as Father Christmas, that we will make into a Christmas card, so a couple of good jobs done!!!
Anyway, enough from me now, ive waffled on all day!!!
Hope everyone has a lovely evening, and thank you again for all your kind words, it really is appriciated xx
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

Good evening:hello:
Really haven't had time to post today, but I have read the thread in several goes:D
Welcome to the new ones and Jellycat reinvented!!!
catowen ((((((hugs)))))) to you and the children. Others have said it all so much better than I could. You know we're here for you:D
elona, I didn't look away or put my fingers in my ears:p I actually think you've been very sensible;) Moneysaving for no reason doesn't make sense, we'd all just be scrooges worshipping our gold. You've used the fact you save money in most areas to subsidise a slightly larger expense where it's needed. And as you say, the special postage charge doesn't even add up to the bus fare to York, let alone accounting for your time.:D I'm sure your DD is grateful she'll have a cossie she'll enjoy wearing:cool:
Actually managed to get some more pressies today so the number to get is smaller, but of course it's all the hard to buy for people that are left:rotfl: :rotfl: And most of them are men, what a surprise:rolleyes:
I'm going to start wrapping tonight, first time I've ever done it this early. Should mean I won't have that situation where I wrap quicker and quicker because I can see the paper is going to run out, and I think I can cheat it with speed:rotfl: ( Just like when you knit quicker so you can finish the row before the wool runs out:o )
Off for a quick look round, then I will start, honestly.
CMxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Matron
Shez I think you're confusing me and Twink
It's just gone by 6am and it's already humid. DH didn't have a good sleep but I slept through it all. What a good nurse am I.
He's out watering the veggies. I'll make my Pineapple Boiled Fruit Cake today. I'm the only one that eats Xmas Cake so don't bother with it. I'm sure if I submitted it to a magazine I'd get a prize too.
I'll freeze it otherwise we'll eat it.
Elona You'd be spoilt for choice here in swimsuits. You could have really rowed the boat out and taken the next flight.
CM Use brown paper if you run out. Someone put a picture of it in a thread and it looks really smart.
Cat I'm glad that sharing has made you feel more right about the situation. But do remember, life is short and your parents won't live forever. ((hugs))
Welcome to Miss Eyre & Suesy
Off to have a bit of a surf then start the day. Hope you all have a good nights sleep. ByeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Nigella's just made a Snowball......gosh havent had one of those for yonks!!!!
might go buy some warniks tomorrow!! LOL0 -
Evening everyone, and welcome newbies
I'm the same as you today CM, read several times, but only just finished reading it. Glad we didn't scare you off Mary.
Catowen ((hugs)) I don't think I would have retired to my room, someone would have been told very sharply that it was my house and if they did not know how to talk to me properly they could leave there and then, though they would have to been very brave to even try it as I am known as being scary!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I have to admit I was so lucky with both my M&D and DH's. It's hard for me to comment as we are so fortunate that both M&D's saw 60 years together and both our brothers are on around 40 years and we are on 34. But closer to friends than brothers.
Woke up at 4 am, but went back at 6.45, got woken up by DH with a cup of coffee at 9.30, hence no time to get on here earlier.
Sorted some paperwork out and helped DH with getting side bedroom ready.
Sat here again laptop on knee, this time watching gadget show, need to do cards, get tree out and decorate, create newssheet for Xmas cards. wrap all presents to find out if I have anything else to get, finishing sorting paperwork and, and, and      and builders due back sometime this week to fix side bedroom.
I tried pm'ing Amie too and had no response though usually do, so hope it is just pc problems.
How's things Pipkin? (((hugs))) all round
Take care
