Afternoon All
Catowen - my sympathys are with you. I gained a step mum & step dad when I was about 20. Step dad is ok but have had a lot of problems with my stepmum over the years. I hate it when my parents are 'different' when they are with their partners. I now put up with her because of my dad but if she did anything really out or order then I would have no qualms about never seeing her again. I do think that stepfamilies can be very difficult altho sometimes they obivously work and I feel sorry for kids in that position - I dread to think how I would have been treated if I hadnt been an adult iykwim. Your family is you and the kids and thats whats important.
Well best laid plans again - took car to garage and they worked on it straight away so decided to wait - took about 1.5 hours but considering it takes me 35 mins to get there and back that made sense. Then got a phonecall from sister who had both kids at home sick but needed desperatly to go to argos as she had stuff reserved so I am babysitting at the moment. No office work done today, I may well try and get some done tonight as otherwise wont be able to get out of the office at all tomorrow.
Argos have been & delivered our new settee though I havnt seen it yet. Cant wait to go home to have a look.
Quick questions - been looking at a load of american receipes which call for onion soup mix - would this be the same as dried soup that you add water too? - Any answers gratefully received.
Best be off, hopefully sis will be home soon, nephew is definately under the weather and just on settee watching tv, neice however appears to be totally recoved and is driving me mad.0 -
Hi MISS EYRE, HERMOINE (JELLYCAT) & SUESY SUE - nice to 'meet' you.
Well, I managed to get my shopping done - I needed yet more ring-binders; I'm sinking under a mountain range of paperwork these days. I've also been to the gym after which I came home and had some crumpets, HM cake and two chocolate bars! Now I just want to go to sleep. I might just have a little nap. It's freezing here at the moment. I've just put my heating on so it's starting to feel warmer.
Anyway, off to have a cuppa, a quick doze and then some more work.
See ya.

Essex Girl....I have always taken that to mean dried soup mix, eg Knorr packet French Onion.
Nice to see you Hermione and Suesy. :hello:
Gingham, if you're reading....Is your dad recovering OK?0 -
catowen - what a dreadful weekend but I think you are doing the right thing for you and your children - they are the important ones. If your mum refuses to visit without him thats her loss. i hope she sees sense so that you can all still see her.
Crazychick - hope you feel better soon x
Hi to Miss Eyre(sounds very posh;) ) Hermione(Iremember jellycat!) and suesy sue:santa2:

Afternoon all
Catowen - what a horrid weekend - good for you though putitng your children and yourself first. i haven't spoken to my mother for years and her partner is just the cherry on the cake. suck a relief when I decided that I didn't have to put up with the constant putdowns etc. my dds have made efforts with her but she doesn't want to meet them halfway so they've given up too. she has four children and the only one that speaks to her is dsis .... from canada. My Ddad's wife on the other hand is brilliant! she is not much older than me and we have always got on well
Well dd11 is just home from school so we re going to w*rk to pick up a friend and then going to watch her dress rehearsal in a musical - she is playing Aunt Em in the Wizard of Oz.
Had dgs3 last night but his mum could not be found until 2pm - I am never doing this again unless she comes back here for the night. He is not well and has been asking for his mum all day - apparantly her phone was off which is real wierd as she has 3!!!!I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
One of my Christmas presents from mr tru (that I ordered and he doesn't know about yet :rotfl: ) has just arrived, John Yeoman's Self Reliance. I'm sooooo tempted to start reading but I've resisted so far. There's no-one else here and I need someone to hide it from me, HELP
Here's some mulled wine for those of you having a hard time at the moBulletproof0 -
Tru, go and put it upstairs out of the way and get him to hide it when he comes home.
I have bought myself some books, and told DH to put them away or I will read themYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Oh that does look tasty.............could even stop being tee total for that !!
NowI've got to rethink tonights dinner !! Boys I foster don't want to eat.......they had something earlier so my chicken in white wine sauce with pasta that would do for four of us has to be shelved till tomorrow.
Got to think of something quick and easy to cook for -expect it'll be sausage egg and chips...................ooops ! Haven't even got sausages out the freezer yet !
Best do that.........................(runs off in a flap............... )Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Hi all
Welcome/welcome back to MISS EYRE, HERMOINE & SUESY SUE.
Aussie, go steady with the stockings, you don't want hubby to have a relapse!!
The temperature has dropped dramatically here, so I'll be scraping the ice off the car tomorrow morning.
Hugs to Catowen, hubby's stepdad tends to be a groper, I find the best way is to use the Mary Archer Hug, it works for me. When Jeffrey Archer came out of prison & got home, all the press were there, he dived in for a big snog & Mary held him by his arms, pecked him on the cheek & then placed him away from her, I thought it was brilliant.
I have aa step mother who is lovely, my Mum who was a very bad judge of character presented me with a variety of men, they were mostly stupid but harmless.
Have a good evening all.
Hugs Hester

Cant believe my baby is nearly 13:eek:          ...she is putting all towards her laptop and we are giving her some cash towards it for Xmas.
