Morning all! :santa2:
Catowen....Sorry you had a bad weekend. Tell us all about it if it helps.
Aussie.....That's so unfair! Putting on your nurses outfit when OH's mouth is too sore to laugh.
Jayward.....Sorry about you BIL. That's all you need.
Snowy...Enjoy work.
Mary....Please don't be frightened. You will get used to Churchmouse.
Where is CrazyChik? I hope you're not stuck in the window.
Was up late last night trying to iron all the nativity costumes I knew I had to iron for a week.Got them done eventually and am heading in to the school in a minute.
Rest of the day will be taken up with clearing the weekend bombshell, sorting out the freezer and ironing. Oh joy.
Tea tonight will be frittata of some description as I have too many eggs. (like you PenPin)
My present shopping is complete bar the girls' cameras which are OH's department. He'll probably just leave an IOU from Santa.
Have good days everyone. :santa2: :rudolf: :xmastree: :snow_grin :xmassign: :xmassmile :snow_laug

Well had our tea. Off to have a bit of a surf. ByeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Coooooeeee! Just been for a run, blown away the cobwebs (and lots more, no doubt  as it was so windy). I do my best thinking while running (and ironing, but surprisingly, don't do that so often
) so have come to conclusions about an issue that's been praying on my mind. Sat with a coffee trying to thaw out
Haribo - why do you have 15 outfits to ironHas the school heard of your superior talent in the Domestic Godess department, or do you have 13 secret children :rotfl: :rotfl:
Catowen - as I have found out this weekend, even if you don't want to tell everyone your troubles, a PM to well-chosen individuals can work miracles. Hugs and hope you sort things out.
Aussie - glad DH is doing well.
Mary - ask Haribo to point you in the direction of the photo album she has of all of us on OS. You'll then be able to tell the sane ones (me, obviously, and errrrrrrrrrrrrrr...................) from the rest  Welcome, btw
Special thanks to 2 of you - you know who you are - great advice :kisses3:
Have ironing, cleaning and cooking to do today. Thai chicken curry for tea.
DD is off to NEC at Birmingham tomorrow with her Textiles set to see The Clothes Show. She needs to be at school for 7am    Luckily she can get ready really quickly, and DH will drop her off on his way to w***. Her friend will be up at 5:30 to do her hair and face. Don't know whether to  or :rotfl:
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I hate Mondays!!!
DD(13) throwing a strop because her PE kit was not dry! Maybe if she TOLD me when she does P.E. or got her stuff ready the night before then we would not have this kerfuffle twice a week!
She needs a new locker key so I have inssted she goes and orders one and I will pay for it and if she needs some spare P.E. items in case of probems then I will pay for that too. It may not be moneysaving but might just keep me out of the funny farm!
Lawyers were supposd to phone me this morning if docs were in for me to sign- I am not trusting stuff to the post this close to Christmas!
Not holding my breath as they never seem to phone me back or have any sense of urgency despite the fact that the sale of the flat is going right down the sewer! Have been trying to get this done since August!
If we ever sell our own house then I know what solicitor I will not be using!
DH say he will give me a lift to York this afternoon if I need to go in.
Catowen
Don't worry about posting if you want to get things off your chest. Everyone here was so helpful when my Dad was diagnosed a year ago.
Jayward
Big Hug!
Welcome to new people and hope you have vinegar at the ready and a microfibre cloth!
Managed to strain another kilner jar of elderberry extract and bottle it this morning so it takes up less room in the cupboard and have a roasting tray soaking with bio washing powder solution to make it easier to clean.
Made DD(13) "strangled "eggs for brekkie as her brace is still a bit troublesome when eating.
No idea what to make for tea tonight - maybe frittata or something simple and quick.
Still need to wrap Christmas pressies and write cards and tidy house ready for DD to get back on saturday from uni."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA
Preemie hats - 2.0 -
morning again,
Have vacumed through whole house, cleaned bathroom, tided DD's pit, our bedroom and kitchen. Moped kitchen, bathroom and conservatory floor, got one load of washing out, its blowing a gale, and one lot in machine. The sky is very BLACK in the distance, will keep an eye out for rain.
Kathy its freezing here today, hope your hubby is wrapped up warm, those short overalls will let a hell of a draft in.
DD has gone off to school without a coat (its not cool to wear one  ).
Just got a call from my boss asking me to go into work tomorrow, its not my normal day, but she is desperate for me to do the month end accounts, I would normally have had them done by now, but because I have been off I'm a bit behind, I suppose its nice to be wanted, and I get to have Friday off :j
Got a man coming to clean lounge and hallway carpet on friday afternoon, £25 which I thought was not bad, at least it will be clean before xmas.
Catowen, we are here if you need us, hugs to you xxx
Jayward hugs xx

Good Morning.
I wonder if anyone can direct me to a menu planning and shopping list spreadsheet. I thought there was one, but can't find it. If not well I may put my non existent spreadsheet skills to the test!
Good grief Redruby - I feel v lazy now!0 -
Catowen
sorry you had a bad weekend (((((hugs)))) wasn't your mum coming to spend it with you?
pam xx
Yes, and that was the problem - i dont have much luck with my family - it is so true what they say, you can pick your friends, but not your family!!!!
Saturday started ok, my mum texted to say they wanted to go straight to town, so i would have to drive in and meet them (she knows i dont have much petrol, but wouldnt make the 5 minute detour to pick us up first!!) so i was a bit miffed, but as i got that text, i also had a knock on the door, and a surprise parcel - i had won a Sony PSP!!! I was so happy, i rang my mum and agreed to meet her in town to save getting into an argument and i was now in such a good mood. So, we trapse around the charity shops and then back to mine. I let the children go on th computer, and we watched a dvd, my mum is never one who wants to do things with my children (although she will with my sisters, who she sees a lot more often) but we are used to it. Anyway, after dinner, which we made together, we were sat watching the xfactor, when i got into a 'discussion' with her partner over who we liked and didnt. He got really agressive with me, because we had a difference of opinion, and when i pointed this out (my mum was staying quiet, but ive heard him speak to her like this before, and i dont like it) he started shouting at me - in my own house, in front of my children. Of course, im not the type to take this, so i shouted back, told him i didnt want him in my house but he just sat there, so i left the room and went to watch the rest of xfactor in my bedroom. The children followed me up, not happy at what had been happening.
Now, im a really stuborn person, especially when i think im in the right, and i really do not appriciate being shouted at in my own home, and then feel that i cant even sit in my own front room. Ive never liked my mums partner, when she first got with him i didnt speak to her for months, and since then ive had to put up with him or i wouldnt have a mum. Well now i dont care, i dont have a dad anymore because of his wife, and now i feel i dont have a mum because of her partner - im so glad im on my own, so my children dont have to see me put someone else before them.
Sunday morning, we got up and went straight out. We went to my friends house who was lovely and then we went down to Trago Mills for a bit of shopping and lunch which i couldnt afford (so another reason im miffed with them) but we had a nice time, we then got home and they had gone - cheaky mares had a root under my xmas tree and took their presents, i dont mind my mum having hers, but im really miffed that he will now have his, i really will not be having anything to do with him again. Ive always thought he was only with my mum for her money, he lives so cheaply off her (she has often complained to me about it) talks to her like shes dirt sometimes, says thing like 'i dont know why i stay', well i do - hes onto a good thing here!!! He also always make me feel really uncomfortable around him, he insists on kissing me on the mouth when he sees me, which i dont like, but have never known how to address it (apart from trying to move my face away from him) and he also always hugs me just that little bit too long for it to be comfortable, which i also find quite insulting towards my mum, although she has never said anything, it might just be me tho, but when you dont really like someone, and are putting up with them for the sake of someone else, it is difficult.
Well, ive now decided he has given me the oportunity, now he has shown some of his true colours, to break off contact with him. As far as im concerned, my mum is more than welcome (as is my dad, but even though ive told him, he never replied) but he isnt - i wont have either my children or myself made to feel unwanted and uncomfortable in our own home - im old enough to look after myself, i love my mum and seeing her (she also brings a small food parcel which is also nice) but those are extras and not needed - i want a mum, not a meal ticket. I just wish i had one.
I also feel dreadful sharing this, when so many here have lost parents, and i have 2 perfectly good ones. Trouble is, especially with my dad, and im afraid it will soon happen with my mum, that because i dont like their partners, i no longer have them - i just cant be a hypocrite and pretend to like someone when i dont. My mum has always favoured my sister, i had always gotton on better with my dad, which made it worse when my dad refused to have anything more to do with me when i said he was welcome but his wife wasnt - so i must admit, i can see my mum doing the same thing as ive never been (or my children compared to my sisters) close there.
Im sorry to pour this drivel out, ive prob not even typed it out properly but im hoping it might make me feel a bit better now ive told somebody!!!0 -
Got a day off today, going to do some more christmas shopping - its the calm before the storm though as it means there is work piling up at work!!
Have just started a cold too. Roll on Christmas I say.
Hug to all those that need it, have a good Monday. All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -
NICOLA - the Sky account is in my name but I made him phone them because I blamed him for it going wrong! Luckily, he's not interested in computer games. He can hardly double-click a mouse, let alone anything else!
REDRUBY - I hasten to add that he is wearing jeans under his overalls! I think they're his ankle-slapping ones; he's got legs that go on for ever so he's very difficult to buy clothes for, everything is too short. I think he was an orang-utan in his former life.
AUSSIE - hope OH is recovering.
Well, we were expecting all sorts of bad weather but it seems to have passed us by. We were warned about 50ft waves and 80 mph winds. I hope those of you who ended up with it have coped.
CATOWEN - we're here for you. A problem shared is a problem halved but understand if you don't feel you can talk about it; I hope things are improving for you - (((hugs))).
Well, I've cleaned out the cupboard under the sink and the pantry and the freezer - I'm ashamed to say that I took DH's best hammer to the freezer! It got rid of all the ice - I'm also ashamed it got into such a state and was so glad that no-one else saw it! I now have a sink full of ice and a wet kitchen floor which now needs a wash. The freezer looks really good now; I only hope I haven't broken it!
It's actually stopped raining now. I need to go to the shops and sort out my Christmas meat now I've got some room in the freezer. I shall also spend the next two weeks on a freezer and store cupboard challenge - can't believe how many sausages, chops and chicken breasts I found lurking under the ice.
Well, I'd better go - need to wash the floor, run the hoover over and go to the shops on my way to the gym.
See you all later.

Catowen - sorry to hear what a bad weekend you've had. Family relationships can be tricky sometimes and cut you to the quick. Hugs.
Taplady - just been catching up on the threads after feeling off this weekend. It chilled me to the bone when I saw the pics of you sons car. Am so relieved for you that he's safe.
Very cold here today. Will have to go find my chunky cardie that comes to my knees before the joints start playing up badly again.
Have got a head start on changing the beds but I need a second coffee before I can tackle the kitchen. DH cooked yesterday as my cold was bad and I can see the washing - up precariously balancing on the sides.
Hugs to all those poorly or down.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
