Orange Retention Offers

... And it gets better!
After Orange charging me for an HTC Desire that wasn't even in stock last week I called and cancelled my order, cancelled my new cotract and requested my PAC. The guy said he'd refund the money for the handset no problem...
On Tuesday of this week I called them again to find out why I hadn't received my refund yet, he says its been processed but will take up to 28 days. Hardly fair seeing as Orange took my money instantly for goods they didn't even have but now I have to wait for my money back but hey thats how it goes eh?! I sent a $hitty email off to Orange complaining about their poor handling of my upgrade and their unwillingness to resolve the matter.
The following day I woke up to find a text waiting for me from Orange saying my order had been despatched... What order? The only order I'd placed had been cancelled over a week ago, my refund was already being processed and I was looking at offers from other networks. I ignored it. Big mistake!
This morning I get a call from Orange telling me they can't process my refund because it seems to their system that I've already got my phone which obviously I haven't. He then tells me a phone (which I'd cancelled) has been sent to me and when it arrives I have to send it back. When they receive it back, then they can process my refund, except this operator tells me it won't take 28 days but didn't give me an actual time frame
He said I could always just keep the phone & they'd go back to their original deal which was obviously good or else I wouldn't have agreed to it in the first place! Cheek! I told him that the deal was good before Orange had messed me around and that I wouldn't upgrade on their original offer as a matter of principle. I offered him the chance to sweeten it by making the handset free and bumping up my internet data package, he said he couldn't change the original offer.
He said I could refuse the delivery so I tried to call my house to tell whoever answers the door not to sign for it but couldn't get through to anyone. I've just received a text from my sister telling me my package has arrived!!!!!!!!
It feels like Orange have ignored every complaint I've made and every request to cancel, it's like they've said this is your upgrade offer, you're having it anyway! I've never needed to call Orange for anything during my contract so I've never experienced how bad their customer service is!
Now I'm in 2 minds, the offer they made me was good:
400 mins,
unlimited landlines,
800 texts,
500 Mb data
$50 HTC Desire
20 p/m on an 18 month contract.
I can't beat that on any other network as a new customer and this'll be the cheapest way of getting an HTC Desire. I'd love to tell them to shove it and go to another network anyway but that's just my ego talking! It'd cost me more to go elsewhere and I'm not exactly rolling in it!
This is just to let people know what kind of rubbish you can expect from Orange. Their customer service is pretty damn bad. They're very polite and friendly, but that doesn't get the job done. I'm just sharing my experience with Orange retentions with others in this thread in the hope it'll make others better prepared!0 -
Am down to my final 90 days.
Here's what I've been offered.

The lady said she wasn't able to increase my montly allowance to make the phone free. Do you think this is a good deal?
Thanks0 -
We are not big spenders with Orange but have been offered the following on a 2 year contract
- free HTC desire
- 600 mins
- 300 txt
- unlimited landline
- 500 mb data
20 quid a month. Not brilliant but works for us.
Cheers

Just recently looked at trying to get a deal out of Orange, I stress I am a very low usage user and not a mobile phone buff, i did however want a new swish phone with a decent screen and interface.
I did some lengthy research and found the best deals taking into account the overall cost of getting a Samsung Galaxy S simply because reviews say the Galaxy S is better than the iPhone 3GS/4 or the HTC equivalent.
I only looked at a 24 month contract as I like saving money on something I really dont use very much socially, I tend to socialise in person rather than over the phone.
I looked at the total cost over the length of the contracts available which the best offer came out at about £720 including a "free phone" for the length of the contract paying between £30 and £35 / month on both Vodaphone and Orange.
I spoke to Orange about my "upgrade" plan and they explained to me that they would be able to put me on a £35 per month plan £150 Galaxy S over a 24 Mth contract (£990 total). This seemed a bit much for me.
Now i stress here that i barely use my phone and very rarely overstep my Dolphin 15 plan by more than a £5 month.
I then went to Car Phone Warehouse and looked at their offer, and very nearly went through them to upgrade at £30 per month and a free phone (£720 total).
Fortunately for me this blew out due to a billing address issue on my end to do with authorisation.
At which point I rang upgrades for a 4th time, on the third I questioned the deal they were offering as Vodaphone were doing exactly the same deal with a free phone for 5 pounds less.
On the 5th phone call they offered £10/month and the Galaxy S for £150. I left it at that, I then did the sum in my head and if i was willing to pay for the phone there and then then I would take the contract with new phone at £390 for 2 years and a top of the range phone.
On the 6th phone call I got through to someone and they said they would continue to offer the £10/month including 512mb internet/month 200 mins and x txts (i care?) and £150 for the phone.
I understand that I got a £400 phone and a contract at bottom rate and am pretty pleased.
I think I saved around £500 or so, I can even upgrade my account to have 1024 MB (1gig) of net usage for £5 per month more.0 -
Orange now have Desire in limited stock
Offer now via retentions is - 18 month deal, 200 mins, 300 texts with £99 for the handset and £18 per month. Data is extra £5 per month. Not as good as the previous offer I had but the chap said as it was a while ago (3 weeks) it has now expired.
Not too impressed0 -

I was offered an upgrade deal when I phoned up in late June. At the time I was told the Desire was not in stock but should be in a few days and the deal offered would stand. Over a month has passed and still no text from Orange. The phone looked to be in stock on the website for a few days but has more or less been out of stock ever since. For one reason or another I have not chased this up.
Was that a deal offered and agreed 3 weeks ago that they are now not honouring?0 -

Deal was not agreed - I was asking for a pac code and they made these offers. As it was out of stock I never accepted but did ask for the details to be kept on record0 -
I currently have a PAYG Blackberry 8120 and am wanting to upgrade to an 8520. I spend about £10 a month including Blackberry Internet Service. Has anyone experienced any retention offers when moving from PAYG to contract??. Virgin are offering an 8520 for £15 a month (100mins plus 500 texts) the best Orange shop tariff is £20 a month (100 mins plus unlimited texts). 100 mins and 500 texts is enough for me. Are Orange likely to match it?? Thanks0

I'm a relatively low volume user and have come to the end of my contract. I wanted an Android phone but don't want to spend as much as the Desire would cost. I've been offered a Galaxy Apollo for free with 400 mins, 550 texts, 30 picture messages, 500Mb internet and unlimited land line calls for £12.50pm.
