Three years to get debt free

  • Lots of wins money wise.
cancelled a £25 subscription per month, possibility of losing my childcare bill as well, which is good. I just need to consider if my sister is ever unable to make it and then I’m going to struggle. It’s £240 a month I’m paying so I’ll put £100 to my sister a month for freeing DD and getting her from school. It seems an easy decision but with childcare it’s not easy to sort and arrange.

Have a lovely evening everyone x

Both yourself and your sister would benefit money wise if she can help out.
Would you lose much money if you were to sell your bike.

That sounds like a really good arrangement with your sister and will benefit all of youyay.

I can really understand your reasoning with the bike.  If you've pretty much decided to sell and the price you'll get doesn't mean much of a loss it would be the best  to sell as soon as possible.  As we both know, vehicles can depreciate at a frightening speed and once winter is here people might not think of wanting to do much biking and might not want to buy one until Christmas is out of the way and the better weather arrivesthink

You always have such good judgement on what's best for you and DD so I know whatever you decide to do will be best for all concerned.  Enjoy the rest of your week xx

  • Sorry I’ve not posted or replies have been short, it feels like it’s been a long week already!

All is ok. Money wise I’m fine. Still not over paid, just going to keep it simple until all my bills are out and then I know where I stand.

Tonight is an early night. DD was at a football match till 11pm last night (a very rare one off treat) with her football team. I was out for dinner with a friend and then picked her up before having a very late night for me. Today I’ve been like a zombie. DD was fast asleep when I had to wake her this morning. I did warn her though that she would have to be tired and tonight is an early night for us both.

Got my £25 supermarket voucher. I treated myself to a loungewear set. I’m on budget for everything else so gave myself a treat.

Cancelled a £25 a month subscription too. That’s progress as I’m on it and ensuring it’s okay.

The bike won’t lose much at all. It’s in such a good way.

I haven’t made a decision on my sister yet as if she needs time off I’m not sure what I can do. I’ll need to speak to my parents to see if they can help.

Busy this weekend which isn’t good in some ways but they’re nice plans.

    How is everyone doing?

  • Happy Saturday!

DD has a match today and I was trying to organise physio because my shoulder isn't doing so well again. I asked her dad to take her yesterday morning but he didn't reply until night time so I missed out on being able to book a physio. Hoping to get a cancellation appointment.

I wasn't organised enough today to book a click and collect appointment. I don't actually need anything except a little bit of fresh fruit for DD's lunch box. Other than that I am fine. Going to the supermarket though always results in over spending because I just add things to the basket.

Selling is going ok. I am having difficulty with a couple of buyers though. One with the DVD set. Wanted it posting but paid without me adding postage. I have had to refund and relist the item as postage price and still waiting for that to be paid. That was earlier in the week as well. I had a couple of offers on some shoes. I accepted one Thursday and I got a message saying it would be paid yesterday. It is only a day out, but I do feel like there might be another non payer there.

Money is weirdly fine. I have zero temptation with anything as I am not on the media sites to see it. I have had confirmation that my old loan has been paid off now and my credit card is zero. It has enabled me to book in my boiler service and also change over the last radiator in the house that needs doing in the spare room. I have the radiator, I just need to get the old one took off. That is happening in October but is before payday so I need to make sure I know the money is coming out. Hopefully the sales will pay for it if they pay!

I held off on the living room, but wondered whether the bike sale will mean I can get it done. I will debt pay with the bike sale but then use what I would normally over pay to do it up. That then means that there is only the bathroom in the house that is is need of doing and I can do that with my summer job next year. It is just a thought. I have been really strict this month and debt paying is a priority. It would also be nice to have the living room new for Christmas. I will have to see how much I can put aside and see where it is and where it is up to. I'd need to make a decision by October though as that is when it would need to be done and sorted.

I still haven't made up my mind on childminding. I know my sister can't do every week which means I would have to go back and ask for help from her. I think I need to speak to her about it and see what she says as to whether she would still be okay doing the odd bit of here and there if needed. I'm looking at the potential savings though. I have just gone from £320 to £240 as I barely use her so that is £80 so far and I would pay my sister £100 as DD eats like nobodies business. That's a £220 saving from previous and a £140 saving from now. That' my shopping bill and will help with doubling my car payments as well. It sounds so simple but if my sister says she can't have her, I can't just not go into work or be late if that makes sense? My sister is back up for the childminder. I have no back up if my sister can't do it.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone. x

Would it be an option to keep some time with the childminder - then if your sister can’t do one session you’re just asking for an additional session rather than to return after you’ve mostly left.

Are you using your tax free childcare with the childminder or would you spend enough to use them up over the school holidays anyway?
