Today was hard. I visited the chapel of rest and sorted out some paperwork items. There were cards sent that were the last ones and when you know that, reading them is more poignant. There's a lot of legal stuff happening so I can't even openly comment on here, just in case it's identified, but it's distressing.

I walked out the funeral parlour as I felt overwhelmed with it all. I can't explain here, but sometimes it feels too much.

The new year has started hard, but I'll be tackling it hard too. I knew this was coming, and I was ready for it.

Woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow. It's nice when you don't have to go out in it.

DD's dad lives higher up and has said he can't make it today. Not sure whether DD will want to go out in it or not. Will wait for her to wake up.

Last night we had a social with a group we are part of. We had chippy supper, some drinks and also a quiz and secret santa. It was a twist on secret santa though as you could swap with another who has gone before you. You get a raffle ticket if you give a gift, then you get picked out. Ideally, you want to be last out as you then have a choice of all the gifts that have gone. There was a bottle of port that must have changed hands around 15 times! The person who went last ended up with it!!

Money is fine. I haven't need fuel since November. Not going to be in my overdraft.

My car is due a service and MOT this month though, i hope I can drive and get it in.

DD's dad made it after a couple of hours. She went out with the snow with him and had lunch. I just relaxed at home! I haven't been out my pjs today. Last time there was ice, I fell and I'm still not able to drive!

Tomorrow, I'm taking DD to our local shopping centre to spend some of her Christmas money. We will be getting the bus there and back. I don't need anything but will have lunch out with her. She's back at school on Tuesday and not looking forward to it x

  • After a very stressful run up to Christmas and the most awful time, New Year ended up being a good blend of relax and family.

We went to a pantomime in Manchester last night. It's got a comedian in who I think is very funny and they didn't disappoint on the laughs. It was often way above the children's heads and us adults were crying with laughter. We went last year and it was as funny then. We only paid £30 for the two of us including booking fee. We've already booked for next year between Christmas and New Year. I went to bed and woke up just before midnight to fireworks. DD had said she was determined to stay up. I checked on her and she was fast asleep!!!!!

She got up gone 11am this morning, which is unheard of. We then went to my mum's for her usual dinner. I did Christmas this year, my sister did a party in between and so my mum did today's. It was nice to relax with them as we're aware of the upcoming difficulties.

I'm grateful for the respite before tomorrow and we have to start with the clearing out again. Then there's the legal stuff and the funerals.

I already have some good things booked in for this year. February I am visiting Harry Potter world with DD and September I have a concert booked. Then we have the pantomime again. They'll be other things, but I'm glad a have a couple of highlights booked in.

    The decluttering has started.

Can't do much else. I started with a couple of drawers in the kitchen and managed a bin bag full.of rubbish. I've listed items too. Condensed a lot of left over Christmas items which meant I could get rid of a lot of packaging. Got a long way to go. Got the pouffe to do in the living room but that is full of DDs stuff so that will wait till she's in bed or at school tomorrow. I've then got her wardrobe to do, which is a huge job as she has so much stuff. Thankfully, she has indicated what she doesn't wear anymore.

Feels a whole lot better having started
