  • That's good news about the expenses reducing. Hopefully you can start saving some of it up.
    Thank you

Priority one is overpaying the car to reduce the monthly further and then reducing the term. X

Really pleased to hear you are doing better than last time I checked in on your diary.

Sounds like you’re doing really well with reducing expenses. A summer holiday pot would be good for next year although it seems you had this year covered in the end. My pots are always evolving as another area where I could do with one reveals itself from time to time.

Thanks, Alt. Emotional spending urges are still there, but managing them as best I can. X

I was actually thinking about booking now and paying it off monthly so it's not one huge expenditure x

Is it interest free to do so? Only issue I suppose is if your circumstances change in that time will you be able to afford the ongoing monthly costs?

@Willowtree222 ikwyacf. Have you spoken to a counsellor or another pro about the emotional spending? No need to answer me, just something to perhaps consider.

Regarding the holiday, could be a case for a 0% purchase and a set amount set up to pay off on direct debit if you’d rather book flights / accommodation etc early rather than saving in a ‘pot’ and not having the ready cash to book.

Yes, I have spoken to professionals. I'm tons better than I was, but still have the odd blip.

I struggle with pots and always dip into them, but can manage when it's coming out my account.

Strange how I can manage perfectly fine with one, but not with another!

If you're happy to do "pots" on a spreadsheet then there is no reason why it can't all stay in your main account!

I use YNAB as I got lost with spreadsheets these days (used to use them all the time when I was working!).  So I keep track of my pots on there so it doesn't matter where the money is actually kept as I've managed to get a couple of months ahead.  So now any money that comes in this month is actually going to fill November's pots.
