UK stocks only make up 4.13% of that fund and only 100 of those belong to the the FTSE100. The dollar (DXY) was also way up too hitting a 20 year high I believe.renegade1 said:why is my VANGUARD FTSE GLOBAL ALL CAP INDEX up +1.20% while FTSE 100 https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/stock-market-summary/ftse-100 finished -2.86% yesterday?1 -
Nasdaq finished up 1.75%

Further to the above replies, check the fund's valuation time (many Vanguard funds are 9pm UK time), and check that your platform is showing you the latest price........updates aren't always done in a timely manner.renegade1 said:why is my VANGUARD FTSE GLOBAL ALL CAP INDEX up +1.20% while FTSE 100 https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/stock-market-summary/ftse-100 finished -2.86% yesterday?

If the tracker is a mutual fund then a price will only be made once a day. A cut off time is used to calculate that days price. Cut off time is 11am for the above fund. What you've got to understand is the markets run all day. FTSE until 4.30pm and US markets 9.pm. The FTSE in real time closed down 2.86% and this won't be reflected in the fund price.renegade1 said:why is my VANGUARD FTSE GLOBAL ALL CAP INDEX up +1.20% while FTSE 100 https://www.hl.co.uk/shares/stock-market-summary/ftse-100 finished -2.86% yesterday?

The ETF version of the tracker closed down yesterday.

If you set the chart to 1WEEK then gauge the price around 11.am then this will give some indication where the fund price will be set. If you look at the 4th of July around 11 am its lower than the same time on the 5th . Probably why your fund shows 1.2% gain on the day ? Hope that helps ?

The settlement price for the FTSE Global All Cap is set at 9pm daily at US market close and then updated on the Vanguard website a few hours later. 11am is just the daily deadline for orders.
Edit. Settlement price is calculated at 9pm US Eastern Standard Time which will reflect the US market close price0 -
It seems the all world etf is more popular on here than the global all cap. Is there a reason people go for the ETF instead?0

I'm not sure on all of this but cut off points will make a difference. Look at yesterdays action the ETF version of the FTSE 100 reflected the index fall of 2.9%.Swipe said:The settlement price for the FTSE Global All Cap is set at 9pm daily at US market close and then updated on the Vanguard website a few hours later. 11am is just the daily deadline for orders.

The fund version with the cut off point was down even more at 3.3%. There must be some levelling done from the previous session.?

This Fidelity fund appears to use a mid-day valuation point so a perfect answer looks difficult to find. It's only down 1% yesterday

The valuation point is 9m London time (at least according to the fund's prospectus anyway)Swipe said:The settlement price for the FTSE Global All Cap is set at 9pm daily at US market close and then updated on the Vanguard website a few hours later. 11am is just the daily deadline for orders.
