No window in bathroom

They're very useful & I bought similar when we moved recently as parts of our new home were pitch black at night.gingercordial said:Owleyes00 said:I currently live in a flat with no bathroom window and tbh it is a really depressing place to be. Remember that means no natural light AT ALL so you always have to turn on the light (even if you get up for a wee in the night otherwise wee with the door open to let in some light from the hall window) which turns the fan on which is loud and irritating. If you want to have a bath, the light again has to be on which is not really very relaxing and you can’t have any plants in the bathroom either.
These things may not matter to you but I wouldn’t move anywhere else without a window in the bathroom.
Your particular problem is easily solved with these (or similar):

We do have a bathroom window but even so a tiny bit of extra light is useful, and like you I don't want to turn on the bright main lights in the middle of the night or trigger the fan, so we have one of these just stuck to the skirting board by the loo with a command strip.
Sadly, no use in a bathroom or toilet as there's no socket to plug into
The ones I linked are battery-powered, couple of AAs and they last easily a year.1 -
We have a bathroom with no window. Didn't give it a second thought, was not an issue at all when buying.
But it would maybe depend on the property.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉0 -
I'm going to get one of those! Just what I need for where I have to go a few steps in the dark to get to a light switch after switching off the living room light. Thank you!gingercordial said:Owleyes00 said:I currently live in a flat with no bathroom window and tbh it is a really depressing place to be. Previous house didn't have a window in the bathroom, we had an extractor fan and we experienced no issues with condensation etc.
Current house technically has a window, but it leads to a sun room so the window remains shut. Again extractor fan installed and no issues with condensation , damp, mold etc.
Regarding the house though - what's with the shed attached to the front?YNWA

Noise from TV, stereo etc more likely to disturb someone upstairs trying to sleep.freesha said:Silvertabby said:
That and the stairs in the lounge. Two absolute no-nos in my book.comeandgo said:One of our shower rooms is internal so does not have a window but a good extractor fan. What would put me off your house is a toilet coming straight off a dining room.
I always see this said, but no one ever says why - whats wrong with stairs off the lounge?0 -
The windowless bathroom isn't an issue but the upstairs conservatory (separate thread) is IMODrawingaline said:We have a bathroom with no window. Didn't give it a second thought, was not an issue at all when buying.

The attached porch will attract queries but it has been granted PP (if done to the pp application spec) The neighbours bathroom window is an alteration from original build. Tbh, after a speedy look t t looks like a nice bathroom (allowing for ea photo alteration, of course) but having a tub & a separate shower cubicle used simultaneously will need the extraction system to cope. umm.
Its a nice property for some, maybe tarted up for sale but prospective edit vendor is doing arm chair due diligence. Could be ea or vendor has started this thread but thats life..
Probably not allowed here but i will buy that property but not at the rm price current , lived there know the area Its ok

When we were reconfiguring our upstairs space and moving the bathroom we also changed the lighting, ensuring we had both some recessed spots and a large light fitting in the bathroom that are operated separately.gingercordial said:Owleyes00 said:I currently live in a flat with no bathroom window and tbh it is a really depressing place to be. The large light fitting is on a dimmer, both for relaxing bathing and also for middle of the night toilet trips there's no need to switch on the main lights 😉Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

What would you pay? I’m not the vendor or estate agent. Would the toilet in the dining room concern you? Can you find when the kitchen extension was done? We can’t find anything.Another_Level said:

There are plenty of things about that house which would put me, personally, off, including the toilet off the dining room, the prison yard back garden and the weird layout upstairs, but the windowless bathroom would not be the deal breaker!
As the bathroom has an outside wall, installing a window or a good quality extractor fan should be possible if it were a deal breaker for you..All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)1
