One of our shower rooms is internal so does not have a window but a good extractor fan.  What would put me off your house is a toilet coming straight off a dining room.
That and the stairs in the lounge.  Two absolute no-nos in my book.

Thankfully we don’t mind the stairs in the lounge, the toilet isn’t ideal, but at least it has a down stairs loo.

Look at next door - there clearly was one originally.
I think it would originally have been on the rear wall, and they've covered it up when they've built the extension.

    ...and yet...
These houses originally had downstairs bathrooms, I think when next door did the extension the added a window, shame the one we are looking at seemed to cut corners with the extension.

Fit a combined light tunnel and ventilator?
Where would I find out about such things?

I've had 2 bathrooms without a window, a flat and a terraced house and I hated both, the extractor fan going, even a quiet one is noisy rather than the breeze through a window.
I would be more concerned about parking, commuters do park  in that road because they can walk to the station from there.
There is also a few industrial parks around that part of Leatherhead, including one between the house and the railway.

I’ve now looked on the planning portal for when the upstairs extension was done, the planning for what the agent is calling a bedroom is actually for a first floor conservatory? I think we will give this one a miss

Both my current and previous properties didn’t have windows in the bathroom. It’s honestly never bothered me. But it’s personal preference like most things when it comes to house buying.
We have spotlights with daylight bulbs in them. You also get light from the hallway and we have a window over the bathroom door. It lets in enough light if during the day you’re just popping in for a quick wee!
Another thing I’ve seen in other people’s houses (but wouldn’t be for me) is an opaque glass door on the bathroom.
  • We are currently in the process of buying a new build.  The show home for the type of house we are buying does not have windows in the bathroom or ensuite.  When looking around, I did shut myself in the bathroom to see if I could deal with it, and to be honest it was horrible.   I also thought of things like (and I’m really sorry about this ..) a particularly pungent trip to the toilet and how you would get rid of the smell!  As well as how it would feel in there on a particularly hot day.  We were then shown a plot nearing completion which did have windows in the bathrooms, and there really was a very significant difference in how they felt- for the better.
I don’t think that you would necessarily get a huge issue with mould growing if you had a good enough extractor fan in place, and I suppose it is a case of weighing this up  against the other aspects of the house which are very important such as location etc.

I'm just about to replace all the doors in my house with part opaque glazing, its a Victorian terrace and I have four doors on my landing but no windows, I hate it.  Its not for everyone but I can't wait, I will have a roller blind attached to the doors that can be used for privacy when visitors come but as its just me I am meeting my own needs  :)

Our flat has no window in either bathroom and it doesn't bother us at all. We have good extractor fans plus a dehumidifier in the hall ( as we dry washing indoors).
    It's not difficult!
