No window in bathroom

One of my bathrooms is landlocked and the lack of window has never been a problem. There is an extractor but I can't even remember the last time it was used - at least a decade - as there has never been an issue with condensation, possibly because it has a very high ceiling and is tiled throughout.1

A family member has a bathroom with no window and they initally had mould growing upstairs, they had to install a stronger fan and run a dehumidifier after every bath or shower to keep the house dry. It's not ideal but other aspects of the house make it good enough for the moment.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/21

I've watched one or two property shows where they've reorganised a house and had the bathroom internal; lots of hotels are like that and they're fine.

I hate having a bathroom with no window, probably because our last two houses had spacious main bathrooms with views over the pretty garden/countryside 🙄
Current cottage (a downsize so only one bathroom for now) had a large shower room with no window...or extractor. We still purchased the property, but have recently reconfigured the entire upstairs space to create a bathroom that incorporates an existing window.
The place is stone with 2' thick walls so not easy to punch one through...plus the existing window (on a large landing) had the view I wanted when luxuriating in the bath, lol 🤣Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

An obscure grille in the door would ensure the fan can extract when the door is closed0

I currently live in a flat with no bathroom window and tbh it is a really depressing place to be. Remember that means no natural light AT ALL so you always have to turn on the light (even if you get up for a wee in the night otherwise wee with the door open to let in some light from the hall window) which turns the fan on which is loud and irritating. If you want to have a bath, the light again has to be on which is not really very relaxing and you can’t have any plants in the bathroom either.
These things may not matter to you but I wouldn’t move anywhere else without a window in the bathroom.0 -
Inhave no window or extractor fan, but do have a dehumidifier outside the bathroom.0
