I saw that on the news, but didn't understand it tbh.

The chiller cabinets weren't working in 40 degree heat, supermarkets are air conditioned...

I expect I'm missing something simple but.....?
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

I'm starting to see some prices in Aldi returning to pre-cost of living "crisis" levels.   Not everything, but enough to be useful.  I wonder if their claimed 1.3 million extra customers are giving them more financial flexibility?   It was really busy there today.

    New products in Aldi...

    - A new selection of quirky flavoured coleslaw, including "Burger Slaw" and "Smoky Chipotle & Lime Coleslaw".

    - New "summer" flavours of Fibre Now cake squares (Blueberry Muffin and Peanut Butter Squares).  The latter is very nice.  These replace the "winter" flavours of cinnamon and choc-orange.

    - New flavour of Fibre Now popcorn bars (Strawberry and Yogurt).

I saw a slight drop in petrol prices today so maybe things are turning round...?
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.

Yes, I must fill the tank while it’s under 180 (Just). I think that’s the political sticky plaster or Tesco trying to ensure they wring every tuppence from me though.
I heard the local Asda had issues with its chilled cabinets so you couldn’t buy refrigerated fish or chicken but only meat. I understand the heat was hard on the tech but that various devices were just taken out of commission seemed a bit specific.

It's a knock on impact - when it's 40 degrees outside, the air conditioning has to work harder.  Maybe it only manages to reduce the ambient temperature in the shop to 22 degrees instead of the usual 20 degrees.  That then means the chillers have to work harder to maintain their normal temperatures, hence they're more likely to fail.

I was talking to a staff member in Lidl this morning. She was telling me that some of the equipment in the ‘chiller chain’ is on the roof, so it woulda been working away in that wild heat. Until it didn’t.

    So that’s one mystery solved!

Loads of Weetabix things today. The foot long sausages with jalapeños and cheese are scrummy the Californian burgers are nice too. Think these two may be limited time specials.
