Are there still supply problems at Lidl? I went in for the first time in a fortnight this afternoon and there was no own brand pesto or ketchup. Cup-a-soup had gone up to 42p a pack (not a fortune, I know) and soft fruit seemed to be ridiculously expensive. I went in hungry and came out disappointed.
No man is worth crawling on this earth.

So much to read, so little time.
  • The shelves have been very sparse every time I’ve gone in my local lidl. The freezer sections in particular. Aldi has been much more better stocked.

Still can’t bring myself - ever - to buy wine in restaurants. Just not prepared to pay three or four times the normal price for it when there are perfectly good and much cheaper alternatives.
About 20 years ago when out for a meal we bought a bottle of house wine for £15 and out of curiosity I looked at the label and it was a cheap bottle of Aldi wine that cost £2.79 when I checked the price in Aldi. 5 times the price of the bottle in Aldi.

Has anyone tried the Barista premium instant coffee in Lidl?   It's £1.09 for 100g next weekend, the way coffee prices are going, might give it a try.
Its okay - Lidl's answer to Kenco Millicano I think - but I'm not struck on either. I prefer the Bellarom one:
Bellarom Gold Freeze-Dried Instant Coffee - at Lidl UK - wwwlidlcouk
That's the coffee I buy but they also have a heaper one 200g for £1.39. It might cost more now but the last jar of Gold blend I bought was £1.89. I use about 1.5 teaspoons of coffee to make a coffee sponge and have it with custard as a dessert.

Some gaps appearing in Aldi today
No sunflower spread (which is completely dairy free unlike many others.)- not even a gap saying 'Sorry out of stock.' Suppose I should have stocked up last week!

I bought some black cherry jam to add to my porridge or have on toast and it's not as tart as I'd like.
It's been sat in the fridge since autumn and it's putting me off having porridge because I don't fancy the jam.
I'm not sure what to do with it - I'm not a baker and we don't like sweet stuff anyway.
The 2 people I've offered it to have declined.
Mix it with yoghurt or have with vanilla ice cream?  Use to make a sauce with duck?

    Thanks for the suggestions, Brie.
TBH, I tend to use lime curd or lime marmalade in porridge as I'm not keen on anything sweet.
I do have Greek yoghurt sometimes but tend to have it with grapefruit, I think the jam will be too sweet.
I don't eat ice cream and don't like fruit with savoury dishes - no apple sauce with pork, no cranberry sauce with turkey, no gammon with pineapple.

I think it will just have to be one of those things that I've tried and it doesn't suit.
    Thanks anyway.

The other day in local Lidl staff told me there’s a 3 month wait for cat litter I was asking him about the empty shelves. There were no eggs cooking oil very little pasta or coffee beans yet again.

My local Lidl was fairly well stocked but the freezer section was practically empty. Aldi on the other hand was pretty well stocked all over.

Aldi seems to have recovered from most shortages recently in my experience, with the only missing item being standard cooking oil which I got at Mr T instead...
