I don't really like the Batts stuff much so normally try to find the most expensive (can't remember what) and give it to the food bank. This month I relented as I knew I wouldn't be at the FB for a couple of months so got something I could use which was the vinegar. Only 38p or something but it's good for killing weeds.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. No idea how it fares on price but I like the Batts English mustard, seems hotter than Aldi.
They also used to do the lazy garlic but that seems to have disappeared in both Aldi and Lidl. 🤔3 -
But the Taj frozen garlic from morrisons / asda / sainsbury's, soemthing like a quid for 400g it's just pure pureed garlicmaman said:No idea how it fares on price but I like the Batts English mustard, seems hotter than Aldi.

I like the tomato ketchup (minus the layer of water on top).Brie said:I don't really like the Batts stuff much so normally try to find the most expensive (can't remember what) and give it to the food bank. Meat eating family reported that the Aberdeen Angus burgers from Aldi were very nice last night. I think they were £3.99 for 4.Credit card 2395

Not impressed with the Pantry's golden syrup at Aldi. Used to be really thick but now just so runny. Lost that syrupy taste as well. Not good.5

Funny you should say that. I hate buying brands, but Lyle's Syrup is one of the very few things that seems impossible for own label to emulate successfully.rhcp said:Not impressed with the Pantry's golden syrup at Aldi. It's not that own label products can't be successful emulation of brands, they can, UNTIL either the supply contract ends or something else perhaps costs, causes a change in formulation as we see so often in Aldi or Lidl own brand items.Doc_N said:

We only find out too late when we buy the product and find it has changed for the worse.3 -

That's true @Rosa_Damascena but sometimes when they can't find a supplier at a price point they can agree on, or some other reason, they discontinue the item.
Only the other day, DH was bemoaning the demise of the Thai fishcakes they used to sell in Aldi years ago. ☹️3
