... and direct that the product is withdrawn if there is enough of a concern.
Although given that this is Lidl/Aldi -- it may well be that by the time people realise, report, the reports are collated, investigated ... that they are already sold. "When it's gone, it's gone!"

It may prevent them selling them in future though!

That's a very fair assessment @A._Badger, we can all just speak (up or down) for the supermarkets we are familiar with and there are many variables to take into account.

I like Morrison's for their fish and they do delicious own brand fishcakes but the only store locally is miles away so not cost effective to travel there unless I'm nearby for another reason.

I remember a poster some time ago who was adamant that he got good VFM in his little local Coop. We know they're expensive but his priority seemed to be giving himself a daily walk and the convenience.

    Each to his own.🤔
We had a barbecue recently.  I needed some olive oil but, unfortunately, my husband had used it all and replaced it with rapeseed oil :#.  We have a Co-op 2 minutes away so I dashed out and bought some.  A big brand cost £6.50.  After the barbecue I checked the other supermarkets and was gobsmacked to find the identical product in the other supermarkets cost £9.50 - £10.15

The Co-op regularly comes out as the most expensive supermarket in Which supermarket surveys.  I am still wondering if this is a one off aberration or they had struck it lucky with the olive oil fairy :)

I think that might have been the exception that proves the rule @Murphybear or a pricing error! Lucky you! 😉

I did a little top up shop this morning in Aldi. They've a new (?) system that doesn't allow you to buy 2 boxes of paracetamol and 2 hayfever tablets at the same time. I said I thought that only applied to painkillers but the woman on the till didn't have any further details. Computer says no, literally. She didn't mind putting them through as a separate transaction though, but still. Something to be aware of from now on folks.

Edit - a wee while ago I got a load of little bottles of port in Aldi - reduced from iirc £7.99 to £1.99. I asked the till person was that right and she said yep. They were kicking them out to make way for those pouches of freezable cocktail nonsense and needed the shelf space. I wonder if your co-op needed the olive oil space for something more profitable seasonal @Murphybear? A good find, whatever the reason :)

That is the kind of bargain I like!

I snaffled up a bottle of limoncello from Lidl this week, it is 30%. Beware, not all limoncellos are created equal (the last bottle I bought was just 25%, that was from Asda). If I can find one at 40% it might even induce hallucinations of Sorrento! :)

That's something I'd never even thought of, checking the alcohol content. Good tip Rosa :)

Mind I don't suppose it matters really. I only buy it when it's on offer cos I like to keep a couple of bottles in. I sometimes used it as a 'sauce' for icecream :yum:

Had the same thing with alcohol at M&S.  They were getting rid of the half bottles of alcohol (brandy & rum!) and so were selling them for £4.99 rather than the normal £7ish.  Happy with that.

Thanks.  I don’t normally shop at the Co-op as it is usually expensive.  “Which” reviews have nearly always found it the most expensive of all supermarkets.   :D.  Whoops, I’ve just realised I’ve already said that

We had a really convenient new Co-Op open right at the end of our street a few years back.

As an opening offer they did a money-off voucher on your first shop to get you through the door. That was the one and only time I shopped in there -- with the (generous) voucher the lower-priced items I bought came out as just-below-Morrisons prices.

Without the voucher, or for higher priced items? Forget it! :)

There was a Co-op close to hand when I lived in outer London, which was great for YS foods. It sold out to a NISA which I didn't trouble. By that time an Aldi was built a short distance away and since I have departed it's been matched by a new Lidl.
