^^^ That's not what happens in my local Aldi.
A little while ago I had picked fruit or veg with 50% off. seems the bbd date was the day before so they would not sell it to me even though whatever it was was perfectly fine. Said it was against the law to sell it.
On the other hand the local Co-op sells bread that is a couple of days ood at silly prices- great for toast or baking.
Strange- the law doesn't seem to apply to them......... or maybe that is just a cop out answer?

The law is simple - it's illegal to sell food past its Use By date but it's legal to sell food past its Best Before date.
Some foods, including whole fruit & veg, don't need to have a date on at all.
Most of the major chains have a policy of not selling any food past the date printed on the packaging, but that is a commercial choice rather than a legal requirement.5 -
I bought some small tins of generic caramel - akin to the Nestle product - from Aldi for just 59p. "Usual" price £1.19.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Lidl had some dessert pots for 75p each. There were vanilla (which we didn't buy) and another called (I think) double nut. Looks like chocolate but was hazelnut and was really rather unpleasant. A bit mealy (ground nuts I guess) and the whipped cream probably had too much firming product in it to be enjoyable.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. @Rosa_Damascena - no, not on alcohol, but it was a useful extra voucher as the spend did push us to just over the £250 mark which gets us the 10% off the next spend which I'll use for the first shop in March.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/662

Multipacks of handcooked crisps (S&V) are back at Aldi - for a price! They are now at £1.49 for 6, I think they were £1.09 last time I bought them which was well before Christmas.I bought a 6-pack of Snackrite instead, even they had gone up to 89p (from 65p).No man is worth crawling on this earth.
