My local Lidl have a range of veg. at 19p.

Whole swede; 1.5kg bag of red or white potatoes; brussels sprouts; 1kg bags carrots; parsnips; broccoli/cauliflower floret mix bag; 300g bag Eschalion shallots - that's all I can remember.
Varies, I guess.  At 19p on line says 500g each parsnips or Brussels sprouts, 1.5kg mini roasting potatoes, 1 kg carrots, 300g shallots, individual swede.

[For a comparison, Sainsbury's are/will be offering 2.5 kg white potatoes for 19p.  Brussels sprouts and parsnips same as Lidl.]

Good to know they now do cooking bacon in Lidl. I've been buying from Asda (75p for 500g). I chop into lardons and freeze in portions. Ideal for pasta dishes or omelettes or, as @Pollycat says, liver and bacon. 😋

mmm ... it works (think diced pork) especially with addition of coriander and basil (+ tin of tomatoes).

I noticed Aldi's hand cooked crisps are now above a pound (£1.05) which was my barrier to what I was willing to pay for a regular buy. So now it's a rarer purchase for me from now on.

Alternative to Lidl or Aldi - we have a BBD warehouse place near us called Rogers (there's several locations in the south).  Tins, bottles and packets for the most part.  Some are past their BBD (but still safe to consume) and others are still several months off from this.  Everything is normally sold in quantity (so 6 tins of X for £Z) rather than individually.  But that might suit a lot of people.

Recent finds there included Starbuck Holiday coffee pods (BBD 9/22) 3 boxes of 10 for £4 - so about 1/3 the normal price.  Also machine catering size bags of salted popcorn (nom!!) 50 packs for £7.  Monin 1 litre bottles of drink syrup 2 for £3.  And best of all 24 x 330ml tins of Evian for £4.

I usually go around and pick up various things while I think about how/when I might use them and does the price warrant the purchase.  Tins of Napolina tomatoes were considered but the small saving to be had didn't make them worth the storage space.  On the other hand you can never have too much popcorn and we both drink fizzy water daily and the Evian was significantly cheaper than the small bottles available at Aldi or Tasco.
