I applied for the mbna card too (and was approved). It actually one of the cards recommended by Martin at the moment if you're into stoozing ... have a look under the blue cards" link at the top ;) Depending wht limit hey give you you may be able to make a few more pennies out of it, my limit is only £1000 but over they year I should make about £30 profit ... not a lot but hopefully they'll increase my limit or I may get into the whole stoozing thing (this is my first ever credit card  )
    Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
    Mortgage Overpayments Pot £1263
  • If I am approved, I reckon I'll be lucky to even get a £1000 limit LOL.

Still, might give stoozing a go. Plus, I'd imagine that using the card (even for stoozing) and then ultimately paying it off in full, would help to build my credit rating/score/record? Never had any bad credit myself (never had any at all!!) however I was a victim of ID fruad, which left my credit file in a mess and a number of CIFAS warnings were placed on it. Not an issue currently, as I have no need or desire for credit, however I would imagine that the time will come for me to apply for a mortgage...
  • Nice new LCD TV will go down very nicely, thank you very much AXA. :D

AXA Sunlife are currently offering a 15" LCD TV as one of their welcome gifts for the 'over 50's' products. I spoke to my stepfather about this, and he has signed up :D The TV is mine, and he will be cancelling the policy as soon as it has been delivered...It should be sent out within a month of the first payment, meaning only £6 should be paid, although allowing for delays in delivery I expect that it'll actually cost £12 in total! I've agreed to pay him the £12...so that's all it's going to cost me for a nice, shiny new TV. :D:D:D
  • I've just done the same with JackpotJoy as Gala and Foxy - £10 matched deposit for £20 Quidco CB.

Even if I don't win anything playing my £20, I'll still be £10 up with the CB. :D
  • Oh well, car window wont be getting done until Tuesday now, as the chap doing it for me is 'busy'

On a positive note, though, my £20 from Jackpotjoy has tracked and validated in Quidco :D. Off to update my sig totals now - they're looking mighty healthy!

Also received notification that my new 'second' current account has been approved  (guess the app was processed by a computer...very much doubt that bank staff will be working at 07.33 on a Sunday morning :rotfl: )

Dont think I will ever get to your pace of money backs as one thing being a bankrupt I cant apply for the cc or bank accounts.!! Oh well
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

The MBNA CC only pays out £8.50, and that depends on being approved (which, TBH, I don't think I will be). As for the bank account - I didn't apply for it with A&L, through Quidco, as again I don't know whether I would pass their credit check. I've opened a second account with Barclays, as I have my main account with them and they can see that it is usually kept in good order etc.

If the Abbey manage to get over their 'hiccups' and are still offering the good savings rate to CA holders, I may think about closing my second account with Barclays and switching it to them later on in the new year...
  • When I had my first (and last) car, an ageing Citroen Saxo, I saved myself a fortune when the time came to replace a couple of tyres. I did a quick search on eBay, and found somebody only 5 miles away selling a full set of wheels with tyres - I got the lot for £25. :D

My current car, a newer Fiat Brava, needs a new front OS tyre (although the others are all fine) and I've just done a quick search on eBay. There are a couple of bargains, but unfortunately they all seem to be in the london area :( When you factor in a 500mile+ round trip, they suddenly look less appealing :rotfl:

Oh well, I'll keep an eye out on eBay for a week or so, and if nothing comes of it I may have to bite the bullet and buy a new one! (although with cashback, of course :D )
  • Have you tried Blackcircle.com for tyre prices? I found the least expensive for what I needed and I am sure if you look on the vehicles thread someone once posted about a £5 discount if you signed up to something so have a search on there if you find blackcircle competitive.
  • Got a quote of £32.50 for the tyre, including fitting, from National :)

eBay listings are at £53.35 so far :D

Quiet new years eve in, with the remains of the xmas booze, a mountain of washing to work my way through, and the computer :o
