What a difference a day makes!!

Keep going, but don't expect every day to be as productive as today! Sometimes it feels like swimming through treacle!!

Hi Marc, just read through your very determined and humorous thread, well done on all your efforts so far.
Am I dreaming, or did you list a monthly life insurance payment in your budget? Do you really need this at all? Read Martin's article on the main site about if/when life insurance is appropriate. I don't have any, despite being all grown up with a mortgage etc, because I don't have any financial dependents.
HTH and Happy New Year :)

Thanks, I'm glad you've enjoyed the thread so far. :)

You're not dreaming, I do have Life Insurance :o It's almost certainly not necessary, however I do like the peace of mind that my family would benefit should anything happen to me. None of my family are well off, in fact to be honest my mother really struggles to get by, as she is a carer for her disabled partner and unable to work - as well as being the primary caregiver to his 3 kids, and their one joint child (my half sister:love:). It's nice to think that they would receive some money to help make life easier for them, should the worst happen.

    Thanks :)

I feel so much better knowing that things are back under control, and that I didn't let them get too out of control in the first place, when things started to go wrong.

This past week has been a prime example - before joining this site, had I been faced with the trials of this week (running short of money to pay rent, bank c*ckup) I would probably have borrowed money to keep afloat, rather than tackling the problem head on. Now, however, I have ensured that not only has my rent been paid, and the bank messup been sorted, but I still have a little money to live on - and I haven't gotten into debt over it! :D
  • Got my tyres, also got tracking done free, as I complained about the salesman trying to sell me more expensive tyres... :D

Just checked eBay, the total so far stands at £104.82, with over 2 days to go :D:D:D

Not a NSD today though, as I bought my tyres and had the car washed, although my very kind nan did give me £10 towards it.
  • Yikes, it's been busy on here today! My thread had dropped down to the 8th page!! :rotfl:

A LSD today, I bought a Sunday Mirror, and that was all. :)

eBay items are at £138.05 so far, with 26 hours to go :D:D:D

I've got the 14th and 15th booked off work (just received email confirmation now), so I can go flat/house hunting. I'm going to take my local papers into work tomorrow and ring around the agents to make some viewing appointments - I've seen at least 4 that I may be interested - one of which I am very interested, as it is in a very nice development - only problem being it's only small... A lot of my final decision will be based on whether I receive the expected payrise at work (should hear within the next 2 weeks) and also whether I get accepted by AQA - as I am viewing properties at the top and bottom ends of my budget. I don't want to overstretch myself, so if things don't work out as planned financially I will be limiting myself to the lower priced properties.

I'll post up some piccies of the development I'm interested in shortly. :)

Marc, you've had a fantastic start to the new year, well done !! :T :T Hope your ebay stuff goes a bit higher for you although that is a great total anyway :D
    Mortgage Total: £51,549 / £75,000
    Mortgage Overpayments Pot £1263
  • Thanks Benben :)

I'd like to see it reach £150. :D Although as you say, the current total is fantastic - and well above what I was expecting.

If I do move, I'm going to need every penny - as I'm currently in a furnished bedsit, so will need to buy my own furniture etc. I have made a start, buying some kitchen bits etc, but will still need lots of basics such as a bed, sofa, storage...

The development that I'd really like to live in is called The Deck, and is on Runcorn's waterfront.

Probably not everybody's cup of tea, but I love it. :D

To buy, betwek £98k and £138k (top end price being a 2 bed penthouse ;) )

To rent, between £400 and £650 PCM

I'd be looking to rent to begin with, possibly thinking of buying in a year or two once I've got a decent deposit together , and hopefully had a fair salary increase! :D

You're right, having a big goal does help, the thought of owning an apartment there makes me feel all giddy!!

Ps. Well done on you £10/day challenge so far - you're way ahead of target for the 6th day! :)

Thankyou, I keep thinking I won't be able to find any more towards the challenge, but each day something seems to turn up ... so far anyway ;):D
The apartments look lovely, if only they cost that round here I would have cleared my mortgage by now  :D
