If you have a legacy current account, so long as you qualified for the offline debit card when you applied you can use it at pay at pump, whereas clubcard pay is an online authorisation card, meaning that if you want to do your petrol spend on it you have to go to the counter to pay.0 -

It's terribly inconvenient for me that they have upgraded pumps to "card only" because I now need to remember to take a physical card as I can't pay with Tesco Pay+ or ApplePay. I might just move to Esso who let me pay by app.0 -
I have just activated a Clubcard Pay card and now, in order to set it up fully, need to make a chip and pin transaction. Anyone know whether changing the PIN at an ATM will do the trick for this purpose or do I have to actually shop?!0
-
The only reason you need to make a chip & PIN transaction is if you want to use the card contactless. If you have activated it in your app, you can make online, Curve, Apple/GooglePay, and Tesco Pay+ purchase straight away. Oh, and Pay at Pump, too.1

Can confirm, I've not yet used my Clubcard Pay card in person at all, and it functions just fine for online transactions.1

Does this account have a sort code/account number attached to it like a real bank account? (Albeit stunted somewhat without DD/SO's and cannot pay wages in) OR is it simply a prepaid card like Virgin Money used to do?0
-
Yes it has a normal sort code and account number, which you can use to make top-ups from external accounts. You can also make Faster Payments from the account. A useful feature if you want to empty the account, for instance.
It just lacks SOs and DDs. Though you can set up a payment for a future date, so a sort of pseudo-SO. Not sure why anyone would want to use that though.0 -
Can you top it up using a Debit Card?
