I had a sheet of MDF as a temporary work surface for a few weeks while waiting for the worktop to be delivered. The MDF ended up being used as a template so that the worktop could be cut to an exact fit (my walls are neither straight or square).

Yup, we had OSB for 2 months! 

The ironic thing is if things carry on as they are MDF and OSB will be more expensive than granite!

This about covers it.

Agreed about the mirrored plinth, but I can see why they have gone for this look. Its offers a transcendent, floaty quality to the kitchen units

Much of the time, you will barely see the plinth unless you spend your day laying on the floor..

Exciting, good luck Rosa. Well our ovens have arrived, we are still not done yet though, as we are just waiting on the floor now.
