Hate buying shoes, think it’s due to when I was younger bought the fashionable shoes that hurt, rubbed and blistered my feet. Won’t buy expensive shoes. Nowadays I go for comfort, but I do love my slippers.x:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.002

Gloria Hunniford once said you should spend money on two things - quality comfortable shoes and a comfortable mattress because if you are not in one you are in the other! I have absolutely no idea why I remember that but it stuck with me!!
Although I am a Russell & Bromley addict (having worked there for 8 years in my teens and early 20’s) so probably a bit biased 😂
Enjoy you shoes 👠😁 they will last you years.2 -

Thanks for your posts everybody. 😃. Wow @beanielou - no wonder you buy the good shoes! Still, like @milann it certainly isn't a waste of money to spend out on comfort if your feet really play up! I like @lashie's Gloria Hunniford comment as it hits the nail on the head one hundred per cent!😀
Lashie - I love Russell & Bromley shoes too - unfortunately when I could have fitted my feet into them in my younger days, I couldn't afford them, and now there is no hope because of my large paddle feet! So I am reduced to pressing my hands and nose against their window whenever I pass their stores and dreaming! I did however treat myself to one of their bags in my spendy debt days - it was around the time of the really big slouchy 'It' bags that had lots of chains and tassels attached. I bought a cream version one summer and loved it to death - the only thing was it weighed a ton and by the time I loaded it up I felt like I was going away for a week!🤣. Still I persevered - in the end it went off to the dress agency and found a new home!💕
@amber03 - I think most of us went through tottering around on unsuitable but extremely fashionable shoes when young - looking back now, I honestly can't think how I ever did it!🤣
@Onebrokelady - yes that's the good thing about M&S jeans is the different lengths you can buy - I've gone for the long length.@redofromstart - sorry to hear about the trousers - it's so annoying when you find a style of clothing you like and the brand stops selling it. ☹️ Keep on with the cashmere wrist warmers though!😃
Well today I caught the train to the City and had my hair done. I've decided to keep wearing my mask on public transport though a lot of people weren't bothering. On a positive note the City felt like it was back to some kind of normality - finally. I finished in the hairdressers lunchtime and there were plenty of people milling about outside. I met my friend for lunch and the restaurant was absolutely buzzing - it was so heartening after all these months of lockdown.Anyway we sat down for lunch at 1.30pm and after three courses each, a Hemingway G&T cocktail each, a shared bottle of wine, a coffee each and three brandies each we finally left just before 6pm!🤣😜🤪. Actually I didn't feel tipsy at all - I think eating a large lunch and taking our time mopped up all the alcohol. Friend and I justified the expense as we have only seen one another once since the beginning of the first lockdown! I have however blown nearly all the 'Entertainment- Restaurant/Cafe' YNAB category for the rest of the month and now only have enough left for some coffees and a bit of cake!😆
I'm going to sign off now because bed is calling me and I will actually write an Entertainments update tomorrow and also start getting up to date with diaries - I think I'll start with Beanie's - that will take me about four hours!!!!😂Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Funnily enough I usually start with Beanie too.
Your day with your friend sounds absolutely lovely. Sometimes it’s worth blowing the budget 👍
My dd passed through London on her way here today and said she noticed how it feels more normal again. Eldest gdd is ploughing her way through Harry Potter books and they visited Platform 9 3/4 ……..she was absolutely thrilled and been talking about it ever since. Dd wasn’t thrilled at having to queue for the privilege and was pleased she’d allowed enough time between trains. It broke the journey nicely for them though.January spends - £587.582 -
Sounds like you had a perfect day. I love days like that.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2
