@milann - how lovely that your DGD is enjoying the Harry Potter books. They're wonderful - I enjoyed them and I was a helluva lot older then her when I read them!🤣. I hope she's into the films too.

@Sun_Addict - yes it was a great day - the sort I've sorely missed because of lockdown.

This morning I pottered as I was waiting for my M&S delivery to arrive, then I was having my nails done.

The bras fitted very well so I'll keep them. As you know I was a bit dubious but the straps weren't as thin as I thought. The actual bra itself fitted very well - it was from the Rosie range and balcony style - which I don't normally wear, but looked and felt more like a normal style bra so a success. I loved the style of the bag too and it looked just like real leather. It has a nice casual feel to it so will sit well with my other black tote which is a of a more structured design.

I also received a text from my doctor's surgery offering the yearly flu jab. I was surprised as it's rather earlier than usual but I suppose they want to get them underway before they offer any top up Covid jabs. So I'm booked in for next month.

    ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE
Now that the country has opened up I've been able to finally get myself to the theatre at long last!  A fortnight ago I went to see 'Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat' at the Palladium. It was via one of DSis's limo trips that she organises for some of her workmates and I always tag along too!

Joseph isn't my most favourite musical as I always feel it's more children orientated, but it was just so fantastic to actually get out for the day and have a theatre trip. The theatre was packed - loads of children as it was a matinee in school holidays but they all seemed to be enjoying it immensely- that is apart from one boy sitting in front of me!  He sat slouched down in his seat the whole time including the finale when his mum and sister were up bopping!  I think he would have been much happier at home with his iPad!🤣. His ticket probably wasn't cheap too!

The performance was good too - some very talented children performing. Alexandra Burke wasn't on during our sitting but her replacement was excellent. Jason Donovan was playing Pharaoh now he's too old for the Joseph role, but he was very good!  DSis was pleased as she's always had a thing for him since 'Neighbours!😃

We had to wear masks going in and out of the theatre and also when seated unless we were eating or drinking, but as everyone either had a drink or packet of M&Ms or such like while seated, they're weren't many masks on display!

We also had some nice cocktails pre-show at the rooftop bar opposite the theatre which went down well as we sat outside on the terrace in the sunshine. Also our meal after the show at our favourite restaurant was excellent. However I won't have a rant about our awful limo driver as I could write pages - needless to say we won't be using that particular company again!🤬

DSis and I are off to see 'Mama Mia' in a couple of weeks time, which is my long delayed Christmas present to her from Xmas before last. I'm also off to see an ELO tribute act Saturday week with some friends at our local theatre. Things are getting back to normal!😃

I forgot to report these last night - they were hairdresser, restaurant and taxi back from the station!

Today it's just going to be the nails bill!

Your theatre trip sounds amazing. I’m off to a local theatre tomorrow to see The American  4 Tops…..or something similar. I’m guessing there will be an original member of the 4 tops with his zimmer 😂😂😂😂 and some other musicians - should be good music though. I’ve been treated to a ticket from a friend 👍

  • Thanks for posting about your theatre trip.  I have 2 events in London in the next month but am cautious about both the travel and the shows.  You’ve given me food for thought

    Thanks guys!😀

@milann - I hope you enjoy your concert this evening. I saw The Hollies in concert a couple of years ago. The only original members in the band were the drummer and one of the guitarists. It was a good show though - you would have thought it was the original band playing.

The M&S skinny jeans arrived today - they are really nice - good colour and very soft and comfortable. So I'm keeping them and that will be the last of any new clothing for a while!

    UPDATING THE FLAT
I mentioned previously that I want to put my flat on the market so I've been 'freshening' it up. I had the guy in who fitted my bathroom and kitchen to regrout a few tiles in the bathroom and do a few jobs in there. I also had the living room and hall decorated - just white on the walls and woodwork and the decorator also filled in some small cracks etc.  I've got someone coming in to clean my bedroom carpet and the sofa and armchair in the living room, but he can't come in till next month. I'm also trying to get a handyman as there's a few little jobs need doing as well.

I've given the living room and hall a really good clean - including windows, blinds and light fittings. My bookcase was absolutely stuffed with books and looked quite untidy, but I managed to clear out some and my kind friend has put quite a few in her store room until I move so the bookcase looks really neat now. I sorted out my dvds and took a few to the charity shop, but these are kept in the TV unit anyway so are out of sight.

The next thing on the list is to thoroughly clean the bathroom and sort out the cupboards in there, but I will do that on Sunday.

Keeping on with the London theme, I have tickets for an exhibition at the V&A next month, something that might be a nice day with your DD (when she is down) given previous fashion related conversations!

    https://www.vam.ac.uk/exhibitions/bags

It’s running till Jan and I think the tickets are £12ish. You obviously get entry to the rest of the museum as well.

We are following up with Peter Pan afternoon tea at The Shard! 😁

  • Sounds like you had a lovely trip to London! I was supposed to be taking my boys last week but we had to self isolate.  I lost my money as the show we booked ended on the 28th & we couldn’t get down to London before then.  I nearly booked Joseph but DH said they’d prefer Horrible Histories!! Wish I’d booked Joseph as I could have rebooked that for October when we are going.  I am taking a friend to see Jason Donavon on his upcoming tour! It will take me back to the 80’s my teenage decade 💕.

Hope you have a lovely weekend x

Thanks @lashie - I had seen the bag exhibition advertised and would very much like to see it. I haven't been to the V&A since they held the Christian Dior retrospective a couple of years ago which was wonderful. 💕. Peter Pan tea at The Shard sounds great fun!👍

@BalanceBy50 - what a shame that you lost your money. These things aren't cheap. ☹️  I hope you enjoy Jason Donovan - my DSis will be jealous!🤣. As I wrote he was really good as the Pharoah- his performance was very Elvis and he really rocked it!

Today I woke up quite early and decided to read my newspaper online before getting up. As it was the Saturday edition there's always quite a bit to read!  Afterwards I though I would rest my eyes, fell back to sleep and woke up at ten past eleven!😱. Which has made feel a bit meh all day.

I tidied up but didn't feel like going out and the weather has been blah today here as well. Very overcast with the odd bit of rain.

So I've slobbed a bit, read and spoke to DD and DSis on the phone.

But after catching up with @milann's diary I've decided to take a leaf out of her book and join Slimming World.

    WEIGHT UPDATE
Which has not been going quite as well as I've wanted it to. I've managed to lose 10lb but I'm tall and weigh a lot so this probably isn't such a great loss as if a smaller person lost it.  So I haven't really dropped a size yet which means I should have probably gone into a larger size a while back if you see what I mean.

Anyway I had a look online and there is a SW group on Tuesday mornings held just over a five minute walk away. I rang the group leader and I'm off to join the class this week. She said she has a few vegan ladies in the class and apparently there's going to be a festive atmosphere this week as they will be naming the class slimmers of the year!  So that should get me going. The joining fee is only £5 too.

If you've always kept up with my ramblings you will know that this is yet another attempt by Seasidegal to beat the weight gain, but I'm hoping the class structure will help keep me on the straight and narrow (leading to a ' straight and narrow' figure!). 🤣

    MSE SCRIMPY THINGS
NSD days today and yesterday apart from paying off my monthly CC bills for Amex and M&S as I try to buy everything during the month on these cards so I can get cashback and loyalty vouchers.

Both my State and personal pension monthly payments have arrived but are sitting in the 'Ready to Assign' category on YNAB as I still start the new month on 25th of the preceding month.

Roasted tomato tagliatelle and green salad for dinner tonight!
