Who would ever think that going to work for 2 mornings could be so tiring . I am coming home at lunch and continue working from home. One more morning to go then off for the long weekend hopefully in the sun .I have sent of for a DNA test to see if I can find any relations on my mums dads side. My mum never remembers her dad and we have no idea what happened to him, he married my gran in 1938 and my mum was born in 1940 and then he disappeared . We have tried to track a death certificate down but have never had any luck. I would love to be able to solve the mystery for my mum.My DD and family are enjoying themselves down south .
More of my friends are starting to talk about retiring or going part time , it still sounds scary to me but exciting in the same breath.Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.6 -
That will be interesting to see how the DNA test works and if it comes up with anything. I have a lot of retired friends and they are loving life. It’s funny but as one of them said I may envy them their retired status but they envy me my youth. Plus point of having older friends, they think I’m young 🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

I’m also intrigued by the DNA detective work! What a strange disappearance. One of my relatives (the generation before yours) upped and left to go to America and started a new life, complete with new family! It seems it was easier to disappear back then. Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

My dad disappeared when I was 14 although he paid my mum maintenance until I was 16. Never heard from him again after that. He had another family in the north east. I’m friends on FB with my half sister although she’s quite aloof with me for some reason. I gathered from one of her FB posts that he’d passed away a couple of years ago.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

The DNA test sounds really interesting. I hope you are able to find some information for your mum.I had one done a few years ago, although I stipulated that I did not want my details shared. It appears that I'm 45% English (originating in the West Midlands), 27% Irish and then Scots, Welsh and Swedish in descending order! The Swedish came in at only 3% so I'm a real British Isles gal as well as a Seasidegal!🤣
