Great ideas for keeping in touch with far-flung family members, pigpen - I do similar things with my grandchildren. A few weeks back, I picked up a Scr@bble Duplicate game in MrAl's which should be good for playing via Whatsapp. It's like ordinary Scr@bble, but each person has their own write-on wipe-clean board, everyone uses the same 7 tiles, and the best scoring word wins the round.
I got up quite early (but not by WAC standards!) to make the fondant icing teddies but got waylaid by an email about a subscription order. It took me half an hour to add an extra item and get both delivered on the same date and at the same interval, and even then there were confusing wordings in the product descriptions, so I sent the firm a stroppy but polite email. I have too much to do to allow companies to waste my time for me.
The teddies are made, the letters are cut out, and everything is ready to assemble and pack up this evening.
I have sorted DH's compression stocking (that effort wears me out!)
I must have my shower (oops!)
DH has a load of washing for me.
I must make 2 birthday cards for the godchildren.
We need to have lunch early, as I'm Z00ming at 1.30.
Rosie won't get her walk until 5.00.
We're having a takeaway this evening
Hope everyone has a good day. (((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed xx9 -
So, you know Pixie broke her bed so I replaced moomins and gave Pixies the old one.. and DS1 has broken the sofabed he was sleeping on.. and he made me cry.. he said he hasn't slept in a bed since last summer.. so I have been on a mission to find him a bed.. and make it fit in the room.. Anyway.. a local person just offered us free of charge a single bed.. so I cried.. It gives me time to find DS1 a new one and DS2 can have it when I do because I have to saw his bed in half to get it out of the room.. I may be on the verge of a brain implosion.. I now have 2 hours to find a space in the middle room to build a bed.. haha... I do like a challenge!!
I best go have that shower I've been procrastinating about for 2 hours..
Oh.. I have made a decision.. every time I go in my room I have to put something away.. and take something out which doesn't live in there and put that away too (or in the bin/CS bag)Ebeast.. 6 to package, 2 still to pay and 14 to list to get back up to 100.. and 4 with bids still..... I will soon have enough to replace the kitchen tap which will not turn off so I am using the cut off valve under the sink to turn it off and on lol.

Huge (((hugs)) Dancemum. You absolutely must not go on believing or thinking you should be doing more for your DS than you've done. It's exhausting caring for and about someone who has complex needs and you've given everything you possibly could for as long as you could until it became unsafe to carry on. You're a wonderful mother, and he's a troubled young man who needs specialist help right now - as well as the reassurance that you're not abandoning him, but that's all that's needed for now. More isn't going to solve his issues I love Pigpen's suggestions and hope that amongst those suggested by everyone you can find something of a compromise that eases the situation.Well done on making that decision to do One Thing At A Time, Piggers. (Offspring will be less likely to defer sorting through their gibble if it's out by the bins when you make an ultimatum - and mean it.) Honestly, when thing were at their worst here it took me 25 minutes of ferrying stuff around the house to at least get it all into the right rooms, and don't forget, I was letting rooms at the time so most areas were kind of okay. The rest though were a complete and utter shambles. I did absolutely nothing else for those 25 minutes it didn't even involve putting anything away, and can never allow that situation to happen again which is what is keeping me working on getting on top of things. Stick to the easy stuff and you'll be amazed at how fast you'll eat through it.When my filing was over a foot high I just limited the solution to filing three things each time I went into my office. It took a while but I found things I'd been looking for, chucked some of it, and eventually the Overwhelm Pile was gone without me having to struggle - if something was too difficult I just let it go back on the pile until the right place became clear. Remarkably and very surprisingly the simplest strategies like that are honestly the most effective when we've reached Overwhelm; just a tiny, tiny start makes the transformation ultimately possible. Not starting at all and fretting is the worst of all worlds in terms of wear and tear on our souls. The attic here was so packed full of stuff at one point we could barely move up there and it's a big attic; right now there's more space than we've had for 20 years and I achieved that by tackling one thing at a time.I started with bedding because it took up so much space, a few years ago which all went to the women's refuge - feather pillows, duvets, you name it, it was up there in considerable volume (a lot of it from the chalet when we sold it, but there was already a mass of it up there; spares for here) that was too good to just ditch and most CSs don't take duvets and pillows. I took some to a self-service laundrette and had the rest cleaned and phoned the Council's refuge number, and dropped then it all off one afternoon. By 11.00 pm that night it was on beds for a mother and three children who had arrived that day from a city quite a way north of here. That made me very, very happy.I can get rid of pretty much anything as long as I know it's going somewhere it could be of use. There is very little rubbish in this house. It's all the good stuff that I've been saving for a myriad of reasons but I no longer feel that need, so while I'm not getting rid of all my spares, I'm just streamlining a bit. (Quite a lot actually!)Off to run some errands, back to ironing in front of a couple of episodes of View Point so we can watch the final one together tonight. Belovéd doesn't think it's good enough to sit through five hours of it, but it's the perfect companion for ironing.Better is good enough.10

Dancemum I really feel for you, it's easy for me to say it but you can only do so much and like Pigpen says you have to look after yourself too.
Hope ASB is happily tending her hens.
Strange day here, stupid amounts of work to get done but a limited amount of time. I had a good sort out of my "to do" folder and went through all my emails. Got finished at 2.30pm and took the dog for a walk, someone at work tried to ring but I ignored it, if it was urgent he would have left a message or rang back.
Rang my brother for a catch up, quick freezer tea, clean washing put away, not much flying achieved but there is always tomorrow.
I will be taking your advice this weekend Kaz, my thyroid problem seems to be getting better but I need to chill out.8 -
6 pillows in the bin.. they weren't fit for donating. 1 empty cardboard box and some packaging in the bin.
2 tea towels, a microfibre cloth, DS1's t shirt and 7 ebeast items removed from my room and 9 things put away.
I added 6 pillows and a washbasket full of clean laundry to fold and put away...
One step forward, 92 back!
I have 2 pairs of curtains which have been hugely altered.. they are the perfect colour for DS2's room.. but too short.. I don't know whether to sell them as they are and use the money for new ones or cannibalise them and make them fit by adding one to the bottom of the other.. I know what is cheapest and I know what is easiest.. Is this one of those jobs which would become a blooming great cane toad while DS2 still have sparkle curtains??4 x WM2 loads on the line , 1 in the dryer
Smalls going to bed early, they were up at 4:30am.. least said about my feelings on that the better!!
How's the Pudsey patch going Round me 'earty?? Arrrrrr you managing ok.... ????
Twinkle wore actual shoes to school today..
Dot is delighted with a 3 day weekend and a 4 day week.. until it gets to Tuesday when she will hate the world and why does she have to go?! Pixie has been invited to a friends house after school one day.. and Squeak is staying up until she is level 60 on her WoW character.. or at least that is what I told her.. lol.
