According to another poster it has been mentioned on independent radio.

If the Government now controls or manipulates the media for something other than reasons of life and death (e.g. terrorism) then this is the first step to becoming like China's Government.
• ive heard nothing, ive heard 3 different radio news reports and no mention of this.
ive also just had a wee look at transactions forum boards,it gives you a seperate board for each refinery they plan to take action at,to be honest there isnt much happening on any of them.
i doubt this will be a big blockade or anything like 2000.
ive heard smaller stories on the radio news so i did expect something about this, usually any chance the media get to shock or scare people they take it,so why not cover this?
there are a few emails doing the rounds though.

Why? has there been no TV news about it? I've monitoring most of the day and nowt?

Labour blocking the news?

Andy...

About what?

The last fuel protests consisted of about two or three dozen people, and were reported

Perhaps there will be more, but a news operation isn't going to report something unless it is happening.

I'm all for anything that will reduce the price of petrol (any increase gets passed on to the consumer) but this weekend is the only chance I have of going to visit my Mum in a care home and do the 'santa run' to the grandkids. Does this protest mean endless queues as petrol stations or will it be a bit of a 'non event' ? Can't seem to find out much about it anywhere.

Just a quick question.

I live in Maidstone and use the M20 every day/night. A lot of the Euro trucks travel at 70mph at night. That doesn't bother me. In fact it does look impressive for a unit to travel at that speed. But I've been overtaken by trucks travelling at 80+. So is it easy to disable the limiter or isn't one required for Euro trucks?

On modern lorries, the limiter can only be disabled by reprogramming the engine management as it's an integral part and requires the aide of a dodgy main dealers. The Irish seem to be most prevalent followed by some former Eastern Bloc EU members.

I seriously doubt it's an actual 80MPH as it'd be screaming its nuts off.
• One thing that does intrigue me about fuel costs and ‘CO2’ inparticular is that in order to combat CO2 emisions the motor trade employ the use of a catalytic converter…. The main ingredient of which is Platinum… Now as a big Horological fan (a watch geek) I recently read that a Platinum mine in South Africa has to burn somewhere in the region of 55-140tons of coal an hour to extract this precious metal, which only a fraction is used for jewellery.
With this in mind, is it not somewhat counter productive? I mean, surely, forget the platinum and no need for Cats fitted to cars as we won’t be burning as much in the first place to get the platinum?

Just a thought….

Secondly, on the point of the cost directly to our pockets, isn’t it some nigh-on 150% increase in tax on fuel since the conservatives?
Surely, would it not be more viable to decrease the speed limit to say 55-60 as they do in the states where the price of fuel is still way cheaper than here… on that point also… am I correct in thinking that there are more ‘US Gallons’ to our UK imperial Gallon? So either way the US still pay less per gallon than us….
I wanna move countries!
• I saw a report on the BBC lunch time news about the fuel protests, apparently the government (useless gits) stated that they won't reduce the price 'cus it would be bad for the environment, who says all this global warming bollox isn't just a big fat cash cow.

On cat converters if you took the cat off your car it would burn less fuel and make more power as you would remove a big blockage from up you exhaust pipe.

FYI - 1 US gallon = 0.832673844 Imperial gallon.

Nothing to see here, move along.
• A US gallon is less than a UK gallon.

US gallon = 3.785 litres
UK gallon = 4.546 litres
