Legal fuel protests to commence.........

Err, no. As for due care and attention and lane changing without indicating...people in glass houses and all that.
Oh, and how many car drivers got speeding tickets from GATSOs last year? 2 million. That's 2 million examples of incompetent car drivers who failed to see a bright yellow box at the side of the road. And you criticise us?
Well if you drive a 20ft odd lorry full of heavy goods, your vehicle can do more damage so needs to be driven with more care than a 8ft car. There's more responsibility there I hope you'll agree. Same with driving buses full of people. I'm sure there are many good lorry drivers, but the one's which p!ss you off as a driver stand out, especially the one's who block off lanes to do 1 mph more than the lorry on the inside lane whilst struggling to get up a hill, taking ages to pass the lorry and move back in.
I'm sure many lorry drivers would break the speed limit if they could as I get the impression it's all about getting from A to B as quick as possible with targets to be met etc.0 -

correct anewman! they drive like they stole the trucks half the time.i dont get this chip on the shoulder truckers have, they dont get thanks for doing thier jobs, nobody respects them.boohoohoo.
i can think of a million jobs like this, mine for example.
you do your job and you get paid, that should be thanks enough,if not then train to do something that is really useful, cure cancer perhaps?
if you didnt drive your truck someone else would.
so dont expect the world to fall on its knees or pull over to let a big slow truck pass just because they think they are more important and the load of stuff on thier trailers is life saving equiptment,if it was you would have blue lights and your truck unrestricted.oh sorry thats a fire engine....work permit granted!0 -
Blocking refineries etc is pointless!
The authorities already have a crisis plan to lessen the effects of these blockades.
It would be more beneficial to block a specific major retailer such as SHELL or BP.
There are six pumps in my local BP garage. If I parked my car in a certain place, I could block 4 of them from being used. If I left it there for the day with a BIG sign in the back window saying "FUEL HIKE PROTEST VEHICLE DON'T BUY SHELL OR BP" does the garage have any legal right to tow it away?
Is it a police matter or a civil matter?
Blocking the forecourt of a Shell or BP garage is pointless too as it's the same thing advocated in that stupid chain email that gets posted up on here. There are 2 main effects of your action:
(1) The Shell/BP retailer may be a franchisee and you'll drive him to the wall much quicker. Then the supermarkets will dominate petrol retailing even more. And I'll have nowhere to buy those funny chicken on a stick thingies.
(2) Everyone blocks Shell. We all go off to Esso to fuel up. The local refinery sends the tankers to Esso who need more stocks. End result = the same amount of fuel sold. Refinery gets the same amount of revenue. Mr Brown gets the same tax revenue. The man without a signature.0 -
Firstly, it's 53 feet, not 20 feet. And how can we drive them like we stole them when they've speed limiters set to 56MPH and a high centre of gravity which doesn't lend to slinging 44 tonnes about like you're in a car?
And if I didn't drive my truck, no-one else would. You're obviously not aware that 10,000 more people are leaving per year than applying for licences, there's a 50,000+ shortfall and the average age of lorry drivers is 58, meaning most will be retiring over the next decade.
And the difference between my job and yours is that if we don't do ours, the country comes to a grinding halt in under a week.
And, dumbass, fire engines have speed limiters....0 -
The following statement is released on 10th December 2007 at 10:15Hrs
Transaction2007 have decided to release the date and time of protest action earlier than scheduled. This is to enable the motorist and public to better prepare themselves for the coming action.

This action will be initiated at a refinery or storage depot somewhere near you. Anyone wishing to support action is requested to make your way there at the allotted time. Transaction again wish to emphasise the importance of legal protesting.

Here's a truck drivers response from a trucking forum. Puts you lot in your true light.." During the 2000 protests we were making good headway until the car drivers blamed the truckers when things started to get tough. Then they turned against us because they couldn't get any fuel to take the brats to school. Now they want to protest on a Saturday because they dont have to go to work - unbelievable
They didnt worry when we spent more than a week outside Fawley refinery without any earnings.......... I didn't see any reps, taxi drivers, mothers with kids, or anyone else...... no doubt they were happy to reap any benefits we may have gained! "0 -

Just a quick question.
I live in Maidstone and use the M20 every day/night. A lot of the Euro trucks travel at 70mph at night. That doesn't bother me. In fact it does look impressive for a unit to travel at that speed. But I've been overtaken by trucks travelling at 80+. So is it easy to disable the limiter or isn't one required for Euro trucks? The man without a signature.0 -

just because it doesnt go fast doesnt mean you cant be wreckless with it.
if you didnt drive your lorry then your company would just go to the local agency and get another monkey in the cab,ooh ooh argh argh.
there is a shortfall in every industry, again this chip is appearring in your shoulder, dentists, doctors, nurses, cleaners, mechanics, joiners.
this is another statistic,if the country really needed thicko truckers we would have them.theres plenty of foriegners coming in on low wages who would love to sit on thier fat asses all day and moan about the price of cheese....work permit granted!0 -

full of useful facts arent you.
heres another one,i actually went to the grangemouth oil refinery to support the blockades,i agree with this statement,we should ahve pushed the country to its limit then maybe something would have happened....work permit granted!0 -
